In 2023, the New York Yankees missed the postseason largely due to offensive lackluster and unfortunate injuries. Thus, entering this off-season, the Bronx Bombers’ top priority was to sort out the hitting lineup. General manager Brian Cashman promised to sign two left-handed hitters, and Alex Verdugo and Juan Soto were signed subsequently.

Both outfielders joined forces with the New York Yankees through blockbuster trade deals, which cost the Yanks a fortune. Nonetheless, the leadership is happy with the acquisitions and deemed it worth the risk. Having said that, ahead of the impending MLB season, skipper Aaron Boone shared his excitement about having Soto in the 2024 season’s hitting lineup.

As a player who burst onto the scene with a maturity and skill set well beyond his years, Juan Soto has already etched his name among the brightest stars in the league. At a young age, he showcased an extraordinary ability to read pitches and deliver clutch performances, earning him accolades and admiration from MLB fans and analysts alike. Meanwhile, in 2024, Soto will play for the New York Yankees. The team traded him from the San Diego Padres in exchange for Michael King, Kyle Higashioka, Jhony Brito, Randy Vasquez, and Drew Thorpe. Having said that, despite Soto being referred to as a generational talent, Yankee skipper Aaron Boone feels there is more to him. In a recent conversation with the media, Boone revealed how the 25-year-old is yet to reach his full potential.

“You know, I don’t necessarily think he’s reached his potential. We just want to get him settled, get him comfortable,” said Boone. Not only that, the Yankee manager also feels that Juan Soto is a hitter flexible enough to hit anywhere in the lineup. But as much as Boone thinks of Soto as a solid hitter, he feels the outfielder can do much better with the Yankees. Soto has a career batting average of .284 and .946 OPS across six MLB seasons. In just six years, the outfielder earned three all-star recognitions and won one World Series championship with the Washington Nationals. Regardless, the Yanks’ 2024 season-hitting lineup consisting of Soto and Aaron Judge seems a lethal force already. However, to what extent the same prowess gets translated into the field, only time will tell.

Meanwhile, Aaron Boone, the New York Yankees manager, revealed prospect Jasson Dominguez’s injury status ahead of the 2024 season. Dominguez tore his elbow UCL just seven games after his major league debut. The center fielder subsequently underwent Tommy John surgery, and his timeline set his return for the mid-2024 season.

Meanwhile, manager Aaron Boone shared the latest injury update on Jasson Dominguez and said that the prospect is doing well. He expects the Martian to play like a regular player as early as spring training. While Boone refuses to put a timeline, he expects Dominguez to return sooner or later. For a position player, Tommy John surgery takes 7-9 months of recovery time. Thus, the outfielder should return by July next year.
