One week into the off-season, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is in the news for all the wrong reasons. His choice of words and tone has put him in hot waters. While Hal Steinbrenner extended his support to the GM out of courtesy, the fans were not buying it and called him out.

Brian Cashman unleashed his wrath on the innocent reporters on duty. He called out the media for making up false narratives and backed the Yankees wholeheartedly. He also defended the club’s analytics department, which caused a massive stir among the MLB analysts who came out to expose Cashman’s utter lies.

During his testy press conference, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made a lot of claims to defend the team from what he calls unjust criticism. Not only that, the GM defended the franchise’s analytical department as well. He believes the media created false narratives stating that the Yanks are over-reliant on analytics. However, in reality, the Bronx Bombers have one of the smallest analytical departments in the entire league, claimed Cashman. Now, an MLB insider, Eno Sarris, exposed the GM’s false lies. In his recent Jake n’ Bake podcast episode, Eno reckoned that Cashman’s claims were far from the truth and the reality is exactly the opposite of what he claimed.

Sarris says that the Yankees rank in the top two in terms of workforce and finance allocated to the analytical department. They harbor a vast and diverse workforce, with statistical analysts being employed from Australia as well. “Cashman must not be counting the Australian astrophysicists in the analytics department,” said Eno Sarris. Before Sarris, Erik Boland of News Day Sport exposed Brian Cashman. He posted stats that contained the total number of analysts and engineers working in every MLB’s Research and Development department of each team. This data showed Yanks rank second with 43 workers in total just working in the analytics. Thus, to claim that the club has one of the smallest data driver departments is factually incorrect, says Boland. Having said that, Brian Cashman is yet to respond to the allegations.

MLB Insider Says Cashman’s Injury Remarks On Giancarlo Stanton Were “Uncalled For”

Just a day after the fiery interview, Brian Cashman sat down for an interview with the New York Daily News and gave rise to a fresh controversy. He said he does not expect slugger Giancarlo Stanton to stay healthy next season, as getting injured has become a part of his game. The remarks received backlash from a lot of people, including Stanton’s agent. And now, an MLB insider has called out the Yankees GM for the same.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic said that Stanton does not play to get hurt. Of course, he has had trouble staying healthy in the recent past. But a part of it falls on the Yankees, too. They employed the slugger for a reason, and it was also their responsibility to keep him less prone to injuries. “For a GM to say that about a player, that’s unusual and I would say pretty uncalled for,” said Rosenthal.
