He wants to play for a team that stands a better chance of winning the World Series championship compared to the Angels. The New York Yankees could be one of the heavyweights. But are both parties open to a potential union? While Ohtani has yet to speak on his preferences, the Yanks have revealed their plans for the Japanese sensation. Earlier, fans and analysts believed that Ohtani donning the pinstripes in 2024 was a far-fetched dream as his market value is through the roof.

With Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole in the fold already, they cannot afford to land another $50 million player. However, Brian Cashman confirmed that the Yankees haven’t closed the door on Shohei Ohtani just yet. The GM said that the front office will keep an eye on every available free agent in the market who has the potential to bolster their roster. But ultimately, it’s up to Hal Steinbrenner to decide how much he wants to spend on whom. Speaking on Ohtani specifically, Cashman added that he is a great player and the front office will certainly hold discussions to land him. “We will certainly have discussions and find out what’s workable and what’s not and what’s attainable and what isn’t,” concluded Brian Cashman.

After Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner concluded his virtual address, it was time for GM Brian Cashman to speak to the reporters. Ahead of the general managers’ meeting, Cashman addressed the media and passed strange comments. When asked about the Bronx Bombers’ 2023 season performance, the GM felt it was “pretty f**king good.”

Brian Cashman further added that he is proud of the efforts put in by the players. While they weren’t the best in the lot, it does not mean they were not good enough. “We’ve got good people. I’m proud of our people, and I’m proud of our process,” said Cashman. Well, the GM’s bold stance only added to the Yankees fans’ frustration. Needless to say, the fanbase called him out on social media for his uncanny comments.
