Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has been causing all sorts of troubles for Mercedes and Ferrari this season. After 14 races of complete domination, Red Bull had a weak weekend in Singapore. Ferrari took full use of Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s weakness in Marina Bay. Hence, at the 15th Grand Prix of the current season, F1 fans can see another team win a race. However, Red Bull just needed a week to get back to winning ways. It is Max Verstappen yet again.
Like last year, Max will again win 13 or more races this season. Last season, the Dutchman broke the record of Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel of winning 13 races in a season. However, what is bothering the Ferrari and Mercedes drivers is the fact that the governing body is letting Max Verstappen get away with penalties.
Ferrari And Mercedes Slams FIA For Letting Max Verstappen Get Away With Penalties
According to Autosport, Carlos Sainz Jr. feels it is not fair that the driver who’s dominating the grid in almost every race is also getting away with punishments. The Singaporean Grand Prix winner pointed out that every other driver received a penalty this year but not Max Verstappen. Hence, Carlos Sainz says it is just a shame that he is winning every race and also not receiving any penalties. But it was really strange to see the Red Bull star not getting any penalties in Singapore, as per Carlos Sainz. Moreover, the Ferrari driver said it was a bit of a slam dunk last week. Hence, he questions why it did not happen.
On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton mentioned the rule has been the same for ages. But the seven-time champion feels getting away with penalties is not okay. Hence, he advises the use of “AI” instead of F1 stewards of the FIA team. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton wants to see if AI does a better job or not. Both Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz Jr. look at the escape of Max Verstappen from getting a penalty with high suspicions. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton is always pretty vocal about the change that the F1 sport needs inside and outside it. But Mercedes is losing time to ensure their second place as it is still up for grabs.
The Red Bull Star Is Enjoying An Unprecedented Hegemony
On the other hand, both Ferrari and Mercedes had tough outings in Japan after a pretty successful time in Singapore just a week ago. But Max won as many as 13 races in back-to-back seasons. Clearly, Max Verstappen is on his way to breaking his own record. Moreover, the Red Bull star helped his team win back-to-back constructor championships.
Red Bull has won 15 out of 16 races so far, and Max has won 13 alone. That’s the kind of domination Verstappen is enjoying in the grid in recent times. Clearly, it is not making the 19 other drivers on the grid happy. More importantly, drivers like Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton could have had a chance to win a race if Max and Red Bull had not been so strong.
