Max Verstappen is pretty much back on his natural form in Japan. After a disappointing outing in Singapore, the Dutchman is back to make millions. If Red Bull wins in Japan, they might confirm their back-to-back success in the constructor championships. The Mercedes driver seems to worry a lot after seeing the gap between them and Verstappen.
In the post-race interview after Q3, Max Verstappen mentioned the detractors who said the reason behind Red Bull’s failure in Singapore was technical directives can go “And suck on an egg.” Clearly, the critics who don’t lose an opportunity to spread suspicions totally fired up Max Verstappen.
Max Verstappen Says The Detractors Can Suck On An Egg
In the Singaporean Grand Prix, the RB19 cars lost and struggled with pace in Q2. In the end, Liam Lawson managed to defeat Max Verstappen. There were certain technical directives like TD18 and a revised TD39 raised suspicion about the sudden drop-off in Red Bull’s performance. That’s the reason why everything that happened last weekend fired the championship leader up. In the qualifying sessions, Max Verstappen broke his own record with a difference of over a tenth. It helped Max to beat Oscar Piastri, who was in second place. Moreover, Max Verstappen was 0.581 seconds faster than Oscar Piastri in Q3 of the Japanese Grand Prix. It was more than good enough to secure pole position.
Hence, Verstappen now finds all those criticisms directed at him and his team in the Singapore Grand Prix gradually vanishing. He reckoned after the Q3 that he was able to put those opinions to bed. Hence, in the post-race interview, Max Verstappen further said that he wanted to have a great weekend in Japan after a bad time last weekend. He wanted to prove that Red Bull is still very strong this season. Previously, Max joked about the Singaporean Grand Prix, saying he just wanted to forget what happened in there. Let’s just forget it happened. Moreover, it was clear that there was plenty more left in the car. Hence, the combination of RB19 and Max Verstappen is still quite lethal coming to the 16th race of the season.
Red Bull Is Eager To Get Back To The Top Of The Podium
The current double-time champion driver clearly seems to be on a mission. Coming 5th on the final race day in Singapore obviously did not sit well with the championship leader. Anybody who knows the Dutchman must be aware of his tremendous competitive nature and hunger to win every race. Moreover, Max Verstappen won 37 races so far in the last two and a half years. It sure says something about winning as a motivation for a champion.
On top of that, Verstappen has won 12 after 14 races this season. He was on his 10-race winning streak until Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz ruined his party. The Dutchman broke the old record of former Red Bull champion Sebastian Vettel’s 9-race winning streak in 2013. Currently, Max is on his way to breaking his own record of 15 wins in a season. Moreover, Verstappen looks pretty confident about winning the race in Japan this weekend. He destroyed any doubts, if there was one, as he raced to pole position on Saturday.
