The New York Yankees faced Atlanta Braves this week after losing multiple consecutive series. Moreover, the matchup against the NL East toppers wasn’t going to be an easy ride. However, the fans at least expected the Bombers to put up a fight. But to much disappointment, the Yanks once again proved why they deserve to be in the last spot in AL-East.

After a 2-0 loss on Wednesday, the New York Yankees were swept by Atlanta Braves in the three-game series. The NL-East leaders showed utmost resilience and teamwork to throw the Yanks out of the fixture completely. To add to the misery, the team fell further down in the East division and set up unwanted decades-old franchise history.

Yankees Break Decades-Long Franchise History As They Fall Out Of .500 Ball Club

The New York Yankees are currently producing their worst brand of baseball. With the latest series loss to Atlanta Braves, the club fell below the .500 ball club with a 60-61 win-loss record. Moreover, as per Katie Sharp of Statshead, it’s the first time since 1992 the Yanks have fallen out of the .500 race this late into the season. That year, the team finished the season with 76-86, and it hadn’t been this bad until this year. Also, the club has recorded 24-36 in the past 60 games, which is the worst 60-game stretch since a period in 1992 between June and August. The reigning AL-East champions still remain 6.5 games below the playoff wildcard spot, with just over 35 games left on the schedule.

With this, the New York Yankees have hit a new low this season. This year will definitely go down as one of the worst in the franchise’s rather storied and successful history. The whole club is collectively responsible for these circumstances. The front office was the first one to goof up during the off-season, followed by wrecked offense and incompetent defense. There isn’t much left in the season apart from keeping the pride of the team intact by finishing the year on a high. While the clubhouse still believes that it can achieve the unthinkable, which is a playoff berth, it’s nothing more than wishful thinking. It’s only a matter of time before the Bronx Bombers officially fall out of the postseason race.

Former Red Sox Great Uses Unusual Analogy To Sum Up Yanks New Low

This time around, the New York Yankees landed on the other side of history as they set up unwanted decades-old franchise history. Naturally, the fans and analysts aren’t happy. Amid this, a former Red Sox ace and BS studio analyst Pedro Martinez sort to unusual analogy to describe the Yanks’ performance this season.

Pedro said that earlier, the Yankees were playing like bulldogs and beating teams up like chihuahuas. The unit was so powerful and confident and definitely was in contention for a World Series title. However, the tables have turned drastically as the Yanks have now become chihuahuas. There is no match when it comes to facing a team like Atlanta Braves, as the Bombers are way far from the competition.
