However, Mercedes took a big stand there and moved one of the most trusted engineers, James Vowles, to Williams.
However, to avoid such happenings, the new team principal is forbidden to poach the staff from his previous teams. A similar thing is seen live when Mercedes’s chief strategist James Vowles is changing positions in the sport. From Mercedes’ chief strategist, he has become a team principal of the Williams. And since he was in Mercedes for a long time, he knows all the staff on the team. But the rules will not allow him to take the best people from his former team.
Williams Will Not Get Benefits From James Vowles’ Mercedes Friendship
The new Williams team principal would like to gain new intelligent employees from Mercedes. But the rules suggest otherwise. However, bringing the chief strategist of Mercedes itself is a major upgrade in their team to improve in their upcoming season. But asking James to bring his best working men would not be possible and would be considered an unfair practice. And the former strategist realizes that.
“Anyone who leaves a team cannot simply take people with them. In my particular circumstances, I know some very intelligent people from other organizations that I’m in touch with,” said Vowles. But there is some good news for Williams because there are many brilliant men who have left Mercedes because of a low paycheck. And James will be happy to see such kind of people flow into the team. “Hopefully, some of them will find their way to us,” said Vowles.
Why Do Williams Need More People
Money is not an issue for a team like theirs. And they are only considered with climbing up their way back to the top of the table. Therefore they have brought such a thoughtful principal from Mercedes. Moreover, they also crave more employees so that they can be more creative in their ways to fight the competition. And in no way the team needs more employees because they lack them. The only reason they need more people is to be a more effective team in the sport.
As of now, Williams has 800 employees on their team. But, according to Vowles, the work in the team is not effective enough. “I don’t think we were particularly clever in working out the cost cap,” said Vowles. He also mentioned examples of top teams and how they employ smart people. And that is how he wants to operate in Williams.
