Two of the New York Yankees’ top players were the latest victims of burglaries. Thousands of cash and belongings were stolen.

New York Yankees’ top pitchers, Domingo German, and Luis Severino, were on the road with the team last season as a part of the 40-man roster. While German made only one start after spending 60 days on the injury list, Severino featured in 19 good games. Both the pitchers had a mediocre season. However, this year, the duo is back to make a mark.

Recently, a strange incident involving the dynamic pitching duo of the New York Yankees has come to light. Apparently, Domingo German and Luis Severino were victims of two separate burglaries incidents. They own homes on the outskirts of Tampa in, Florida, where the incident allegedly took place. The local police personnel have issued a statement on the same and provided further details.

The incident in question occurred around last season when both pitchers were in New York for the regular season. The Hillsborough County sheriff said Domingo German’s home was broken into by as many as four people. They came in wearing masks, gloves, and hoods and stole expensive purses and watches worth around $20,000. This happened on August 19, 2022. Moreover, the suspects were caught on surveillance footage outside the home but not identified due to masks.

Before this, Luis Severino fell prey to a similar incident. Between June 1 and 3 of 2022, the burglars entered Luis’s home in Tarpon Springs, about 30 miles from Tampa. Moreover, the suspects stole jewelry and other precious items worth around $300,000. The authorities feel both burglaries share high similarities, and it’s a possibility that it has been carried out by the same notorious group. The case is still under investigation, and all the suspects are at the loose. The incidents have raised some concerns about the safety of athletes and their families. It has also highlighted the greater need for awareness and education about home security.

Luis Severino’s Injury Come As A Blessing In Disguise For Domingo German

On a professional front, both pitchers are toiling hard to make it to the New York Yankees’ pitching rotation. While Luis cemented his position with an excellent spring training stint, the injury in the last week of the session spoiled the party. He has been placed on a 15-day injury list and is unlikely to return until the latter half of April. Hence, the fifth starter’s role is up for grabs.

Meanwhile, Domingo German has received a blessing in disguise. He entered spring with much uncertainty as he had to fight Clarke Schmidt to grab the fifth starter’s role. However, with Luis’ injury, the road is clear for German to move a position and be the fourth starter. He can outperform Clarke and grab the fifth starter role as well once Luis eventually returns. Nonetheless, the game has just begun for German. He has a long way to go from here on.
