Looks like Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will finally get a car worthy of competing at the front grid this year. And recently, just before the launch day, some inside details about the newly developed W14 F1 car have emerged. But what is that? Keep reading to find out.

Mercedes Share The Latest W14 Development

This year, Mercedes is expected to have made some massive changes to their F1 cars to end the gap with the front-runners. Talking about the development the team has made with the upcoming W14, it is expected that there will not be any major change with the livery. This part of the W14 will likely remain black and grey with a touch of red at the top showing their major sponsor Ineos. Moreover, Mercedes is determined to keep their zeropod aerodynamic theory from the last year despite witnessing no significant help from the same.

However, this year, all the other components, like radiators, will be placed to the inside line. This is to decrease the exposed surface. But the one thing where not just Mercedes, all the teams will face problem is the weight of their cars. The minimum weight of an F1 car has to be within 798kgs. And all the teams will encounter a mega challenge to slim down the car as much as possible.

Moreover, the involvement of new Pirelli tyres will also help the team upgrade their performance to some extent. The new upgraded tyres are supposed to reduce understeer and deliver more grip to the tyres. But this advantage will be used by all the teams this year.

Toto Wolff Reveals His Motive For The Upcoming Season

Meanwhile, Mercedes Boss Toto Wolff seems neither too promising nor blunt about how the next season will proceed. Talking about the same, the chief believes that if the car performs as they have hoped for. Then only Mercedes could be in the fight for the top of the standings. “But we don’t take this progression for granted because the gaps that existed at the end of last season could still stay the same,” claimed Toto.
