Carlos Beltran

The MLB hall of fame inductees often gets in the hands of weird selectors. Last year, Carlos Beltran made his debut on the ballot. However, he retired from the sport in 2017 and was probably not ever going to make the Hall Of Fame. Unfortunately, his appearance on the wall raised a few doubts. Why so?

Beltran has made 435 home runs in his career, 2725 hits, 1587 RBI, and 70.1 bWAR. He not only played the premiere position in centerfield, but he also won three consecutive gold gloves from 2006 to 2008, finishing a total of 38 DRS. In 65 games, he has slashed .307/.412/.609/1.021. No matter what, Carlos Beltran will always be remembered for his striking out to finish the 2006 NLCS. It was Beltran, who clubbed 16 home runs and drove in 42 runs in the above 65 games. It was he who clubbed three home runs against the Cardinals by carrying the Met’s offense to game seven.

The Astro’s Cheating Scandal Depriving Carlos Beltran Of The Hall Of Fame

Besides, the counting stats of Carlos Beltran is still lower than the accolades he received in his career. The nine-time all-star, three-time gold glove, and two-time silver slugger, 2013 Roberto Clemente award winner, make him perfect for getting featured in the MLB Hall of Fame. It must have been an easy selection, yet it was not. Probably because of the Astros’ scandal that made his reputation down.

With the entire organization getting reprimanded, Beltran had an impact of it on his character that decides if he sits fit to make the Hall of Fame or not. Despite the immunity that the players were granted, Carlos Beltran was denied the rightful place. And he was ruined with the dignity he deserved.

Besides, the Astros’ scandal made him suffer huge reputational damage after the news was aired among fans. His career was on the verge of getting spoiled. When he joined the Mets again as a manager for the 2020 season. However, he was not given much attention and eventually was forced to resign.

The Mets retired player was indeed one of the nominees for the Hall of Fame last year. But, due to the shortage of votes, which is due to his presence in the Astros’ cheating scandal, he is most likely not getting the space on the wall. It feels like something illegal is going to happen. Yet no one can do anything if Carlos Beltran fails to receive 75% of the ballots votes, despite having everything that one needs to make it to the Hall of Fame.
