Only a few are remaining till November 15, 4 pm, which is the deadline for MLB free agency. However, New York Yankees or any other team has not been able to lock in a deal with the most prolific slugger of 2022. It is not a secret that the Yankees are trying to do everything they can to get Aaron Judge back in their camp. But it has not become a reality yet. Meanwhile, now chairman of the Yankees, Hal Steinbrenner, has revealed that he might consider making Judge the Yankees \’Captain\’ if he were to return to the side.
Aaron Judge Could Be The Next Yankees Skipper!
What seemed like a season for the ages for NY Yankees\’ slugger Aaron Judge ended with the defeat of the Astros in the ALCS. Since then, the big question has been where the baseman will go as his previous contract with the Yankees has expired. There is no doubt about the fact that Judge is currently the sought-after free agent in the MLB and not just the Yankees. But several other teams are hoping to recruit him, namely SF Giants and Dodgers.
Meanwhile, the Yankees\’ administration has left no opportunity to establish how much they value Aaron Judge in the team. And they certainly want his back with the Yankees. Recently, Yankees chairman Hal Steinbrenner appeared in an interview with YES Network\’s Meredith Marakovits. During the discussion, Hal revealed that ever since the season ended, he has had more than one conversation with Judge since the season ended. He went on to call these discussions \”very positive\”.
Apparently, the organization will take Aaron Judge\’s return into consideration when choosing the next captain of the Yankees. Hal believes that it would be extremely meaningful to the club and its supporters. After Derek Jeter\’s retirement after the 2014 season, the Yankees have been without a captain ever since. Judge, who lacks a title, has assumed several duties usually associated with a captain. That is why Anthony Rizzo and other players have praised Aaron Judge. Nestor Cortes also believes that Judge ought to be made captain.
Steinbrenner subsequently emphasized that the Yankees would try their best to move on if they can\’t get Aaron Judge. But there\’s no denying that he has a significant impact on both the team and the fan base. The Yankees owner also expressed his disappointment with the team\’s season-end after being swept by the Houston Astros in ALCS.
Meanwhile, the remaining part of Hal Steinbrenner\’s interview with Meredith Marakovits will air on Thursday. Then, it would be interesting to see what new insight we learn from it. Till then, stay tuned to Sports News Internation for all the latest updates about your favorite sports.
