It would take a lot of courage and belief to be a Lakers fan these days. After the disappointment and humiliation of last year, the team is not looking any better this season, well. Plagued by injury concerns and poor form among players, the Los Angeles Lakers have lost eight out of their first ten games. Still, the fans of the team are hoping for a turnaround. However, NBA analyst Stephen A Smith is not so optimistic about the Lakers\’ future. 

Stephen A Smith Doubts A Potential Lakers\’ Turn Around!

With a 2-8 record this season, the LA Lakers are among the weakest NBA clubs. Their subpar results have a number of causes, according to the list. However, First Take host and ESPN expert Stephen A. Smith identified the root issue. So far, in the 2022–23 season, the Lakers have been among the worst teams. After going 0-5 to open the season, the Purple and Gold seemed to have rediscovered their rhythm when they recorded two straight victories. This success, though, was fleeting.

The NBA Analyst had a very clear understanding of what the LA Lakers\’ issues were, despite the fact that there were many reasons for their subpar performances. He spoke to Keyshawn Johnson, another panelist, and brought up the subject on First Take. According to Smith, the biggest problem for the Purple & Gold is their ability to shoot. He went on to say that the only three players who are doing any good in the Lakers\’ offense are Matt Ryan, Austin Reaves, and Russell Westbrook. 

Furthermore, Smith made it clear that he wasn\’t disparaging Russell Westbrook and even praised him for his outstanding contributions from the bench. He criticized the Lakers\’ shady shooting. Just a small number of players possess the ability to make a few shots from beyond the arc. Apparently, the Lakers don\’t pose much of a danger when it comes to outside shooting.

Smith Suggests LA Trade LeBron James!

The Los Angeles Lakers\’ troubles this season do not seem to be ending. Amid several injury concerns, the team has also struggled with their shooting, which is reflected on the points table with the only two wins in ten games. Even the most important player of the team, LeBron James, has not been playing like himself. 

Meanwhile, Stephen A Smith has suggested that the team should try to trade away LeBron James, as he is not really helping their cause this season. James missed the last two games because of an injury, but he showed last year that he still has plenty of mileage in his legs. Following their team\’s disappointing start to the season, Lakers supporters have been urging them to make moves. In Smith\’s opinion, LA should capitalize on its most valuable resources and begin planning for the future.
