DJ LeMahieu Fittness Update!
Infielder DJ LeMahieu\’s participation in the American League Division Series is still uncertain as the New York Yankees finalize the roster for the postseason. Throughout the second part of the regular season, LeMahieu battled lingering toe irritation. However, he made his comeback in the final week. Aaron Boone remarked on Monday that LeMahieu still didn\’t seem like himself despite recording four hits in 16 at-bats during that period.
At the conclusion of the regular season, LeMahieu made his way off the disabled list to participate in five games, starting at first base, second base, and third base. In 16 at-bats against the Orioles and Rangers, LeMahieu got four hits. He said at the time that he was in good enough health to persevere through the rest of the year. On Monday, while talking about the DJ\’s fitness, Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed that it is one of the things the team is waiting for. Boone feels like DJ LeMahieu is still compromised. However, they want to see more of him in practice sessions before making the call on LeMahieu\’s future in the bullpen.
The condition, which was identified as an infection of the right second toe, has persisted in requiring therapy for LeMahieu. Additionally, LeMahieu claims that his right foot\’s big toe is bothering him. Boone has stated that although surgery is not thought to be required. LeMahieu won\’t fully recuperate until he has some downtime in the winter.
The Yankees struggle to control an injured bullpen without Aroldis Chapman. As a result of missing a required workout, he was disqualified from the ALDS and fined. According to Boone, Jameson Taillon, and Domingo German, starts would be switched to relief. The Yankees\’ bullpen was outstanding in the first half, led by All-Star closer Clay Holmes. While dealing with Michael King and Chad Green\’s injuries, the team\’s performance suffered in the second half.
If DJ LeMahieu is unable to make his way back into the side by the time for ALDS. The Yankees will have to forward Oswald Peraza or Marwin Gonzalez. On the other hand, the outfielder Tim Locastro could also be a potential option.
