2 Key Starters Likely To Rejoin The Yankees Lineup This Weekend As Injury Crisis Ease Off

The injury crisis crippled the New York Yankees’ 2023 MLB season campaign. Many key pieces of the starting lineup have missed significant game time, which has, in turn, ruined the team’s growth over the few weeks. However, rumors are floating in that three crucial starters of the Yankees lineup could most likely make a comeback from the IL his weekend.

The return of these three key starters is a significant development for the Yankees as they strive to overcome their injury crisis. It not only enhances the team’s talent level but also provides a much-needed morale boost and stability to the roster. The Yankees have been forced to rely on their depth and minor league call-ups due to injuries, but having this trio back in the lineup elevates the team’s potential and gives them a better chance to compete at the highest level.

The New York Yankees are set to receive a much-needed boost this weekend as three key starters are likely to rejoin the lineup, providing some relief to the team’s injury crisis. The return of these players will likely have a strong impact on the team’s performance and help restore stability to the roster. Firstly, baseman Josh Donaldson is currently playing with Double-A Somerset as a part of his rehab assignment. The third baseman, who suffered a hamstring injury in the first week of April, looks in good shape. Hence, if all things go well, the Bombers expect him to return this weekend.

On the other hand, reliever Tommy Kahnle has also begun a rehab assignment with Josh Donaldson in Double-A Somerset Patriots. Kahnle suffered from right bicep tendinitis during spring training and has missed the start of the 2023 season accordingly. It remains unclear how many games the reliever will have to play in the minors to clear his assignment. But as per rumors, Tommy Kahnle could return this weekend in the Yankees lineup if he passes the assignment. Not only that but explosive hitter Giancarlo Stanton could also make a return as he commenced his rehab assignment on Tuesday in Double-A. Overall, if all things pan out well, the Yankees could have three key players back in the lineup at a crucial stage of the tournament.

New York Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle’s past few seasons remained badly marred by injuries. He skipped the entire 2021 season due to Tommy John surgery and half of the 2022 season due to a bone bruise. However, the reliever has made good progress through rehab and is inching closer to a return. Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines, Kahnle said he had surprised himself with his progress.

Moreover, the plan for him is to return this weekend. But that will solely depend on the outcome of his rehab assignment. Further, the Yankees reliever added that it feels rewarding to contribute to the team rather than watching the game from the bench. He has worked too hard over the past few months in rehab and is now desperate to return to the bullpen.
