Juan Soto walked into the city of New York with a huge bag of responsibilities on his shoulders. He was joining the New York Yankees, who missed the postseason in 2023 and were desperate for a turnaround in 2024. However, against the pressure, Soto stood tall.

He performed in the face of adversity and ensured that the New York Yankees witnessed a dream start to the year. Juan Soto raised the bar and was selected for the upcoming All-Star game by a huge margin of votes in Phase 2 voting. Meanwhile, Soto’s teammate Marcus Stroman had the best praise for him to celebrate his remarkable achievement.

Juan Soto is named an All-Star outfielder for the fifth time in a row. The New York Yankees slugger received significant votes in Phase 2 voting and has been elected as the American League starting outfielder for the upcoming All-Star game at Texas. Notably, Soto’s form has been phenomenal since the start of the year. In 89 games, he hit .291 with 21 home runs and 63 RBIs. He is also leading the Al-MVP race with Yankee teammate and captain Aaron Judge. Indeed, it’s a moment of pride and honor for the Yankees as Soto, Judge, and Clay Holmes will be representing the prestigious organization at the center stage. Hence, Marcus Stroman, Soto’s senior, took to social media to heap praise on his teammate.

By calling him the “youngest GOAT” (Greatest of All Time), Marcus Stroman emphasized Juan Soto’s impressive achievements at such a young age. This endorsement from a seasoned player like Stroman underscores the impact Soto has had on the game in a short span. With a career batting average well above .280, a robust on-base percentage, and a knack for hitting clutch home runs, Juan Soto has cemented his reputation as one of baseball’s premier hitters. Soto’s accolades include a World Series championship with the Washington Nationals in 2019, multiple Silver Slugger Awards, and several All-Star selections. And to have him as a teammate is an absolute honor for Stroman, as he expressed the same via his social media a while ago. Overall, while it’s early in his career, the conversation around Soto potentially being one of the greatest is not unfounded.

Clay Holmes Also Receives All-Star Nod After Soto, Judge

Aaron Judge and Juan Soto were confirmed All-Star names the New York Yankees expected ahead of the Phase 1 and 2 voting. However, Clay Holmes’ selection took the fans by surprise. The relief pitcher had a 20 game scoreless streak at the start of the season before hitting a grave slump wherein he ERA shot over 11.

Yet, owing to his first-half brilliance, Clay Holmes was named on American League All-Star roster. That will be it for the New York Yankees. Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, and Clay Holmes are the only Yankees heading to Texas for the All-Star scheduled for July 17. The rest can use the break to rejuvenate and find a way to snap out of the losing streak.
