The New York Yankees are now officially eliminated from the 2023 MLB season playoff contention following a series loss to the Diamondbacks. As the team embarks on its finale week, the rumor market is buzzing around the franchise’s off-season changes. Captain Aaron Judge further added fuel to the fire by confirming incoming changes.

He said that he has a few reformative plans that could help the Yankees fall back into the World Series contention. A lot of areas are expected to be put into consideration, including Aaron Boone’s managerial job. The skipper has a year left on the contract but apparently is not very sure of a return in 2024.

Under Aaron Boone’s leadership, the New York Yankees have never missed the playoffs before. However, the streak came to an end this year as the team was officially eliminated over the weekend. Moreover, if rumors are to be believed, the skipper could be made a scapegoat for the fallout. Just so you know, Boone still has a year left on his existing contract. Meanwhile, Boone recently admitted that the Yanks are not explicitly telling him that he would return to manage the team in 2024. Further reacting to his future, the skipper said that his performance will be a part of the entire organizational review. He will himself step back and evaluate things he needs to improve on a personal level.

Having said that, Aaron Boone says that winning or losing does not matter as their vision as a team is always to try to improve a step forward. The evaluation process does not change at all. Certainly, Boone will be a hot topic of discussion during the front office’s off-season meet. However, the skipper had gained the strong backing of his players as well as general manager Brian Cashman. Not only that, captain Aaron Judge has gone on record saying that Boone is the best man for the Yankees managerial post on multiple occasions. Hence, firing him here would send the wrong message and create a sense of insecurity in the roster. This reason right here could seemingly save the 50-year-old’s managerial job.

Keeping aside all the rumors and speculations, Aaron Boone says he does not think about his future with the Yankees at all. He believes dwelling on stuff that is out of your control does not yield any results. Boone is apparently conformable and secure in his own skin and the things that he can, in fact, control.

“In my mind, I’m doing everything to head into the offseason prepared to put us in a better position to try and compete for a championship. That’s what the goal is, and until they take that away, that’s my focus,” said Aaron Boone. Now that the Yankees are eliminated, their next goal is to avoid finishing last in the East division. They have six games left to achieve the end goal.
