Last weekend, the New York Yankees touched down at Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to attend the Little League baseball tournament and encourage the kids. The whole team spent quality time with the kids, signed autographs, and played games. Meanwhile, Jazz Chisholm Jr, who’s off duty due to an elbow injury, cheered for the kids from the stands. He also joined the commentary panel to share playful stories of his childhood. A broadcaster quizzed him on his teeth grills, and Chisholm shared an exciting backstory. Jazz Chisholm Jr revealed that growing up, anime and cartoons would excite him a lot. And his teeth grills were inspired by animated character Chip Skylark from the popular Nickelodeon show “The Fairly OddParents.”
In the show, Skylark is a teen pop sensation famous for his catchy tune “Shiny Teeth and Me,” which is all about the singer’s obsession with his sparkling, perfect teeth. Meanwhile, Jazz Chisholm Jr, who grew up watching the show, was captivated by the character’s persona and the catchy song. The idea of having “shiny teeth” stuck with him, and as he grew older, he decided to bring that concept to life with his own custom grill. Upon the broadcasters’ request, Jazz recited a few lines of the ‘Shiny Teeth’ song. Needless to say, flashy chains, diamond rings, and custom teeth grills have become a key part of Chisholm’s identity. He is the kind of player who wears his heart on his sleeves and never shies away from vocalizing his opinion. Regardless of the public perception, Chisholm appeared a perfect fit for the Yankees despite his distinct personality.
Jazz Chisholm Eyes Early Return From UCL Injury
While the New York Yankees are cautious in Jazz Chisholm’s recovery from elbow UCL injury, the slugger is confident of a return from IL as early as in 10 days. Initially, manager Aaron Boone set a four-week optimistic return timeline for the third baseman. However, Jazz does not feel the need for such a long timeline.
As per a statement given to media, Jazz Chisholm Jr revealed that he can return to action after the 10-day IL stint as he hasn’t felt any significant pain since the injury incident. He has gotten only better since the MRI diagnosis and will likely swing this week. However, the Yankees are still hesitant to risk Jazz’s long-term future.
