New York Yankees mid-season trade deadline addition Jazz Chisholm Jr has shaken up third base since donning the pinstripes. He is given everyday reps at third base over veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu, and Jazz, interestingly, is yet to commit a defensive error.

Not only that, Jazz Chisholm Jr has been equally impactful in the offence as well, thus making him the right kind of spark the New York Yankees needed to boost the playoff push. However, on Monday, Chisholm encountered his first-ever injury scare in Yankee uniform as he had to exit the series opener against White Sox mid-way.

Yankees Jazz Chisholm To Undergo MRI On Hurt Left Elbow

The New York Yankees endured probably their worst defeat of the season as they went down 2-12 against the Chicago White Sox, the team with the worst record in baseball. To make matters worse, the Yanks had to endure an injury scare in Jazz Chisholm Jr. The freshly turned infielder sprinted from second base to score a run on Antony Volpe’s single that barely crossed the infield dirt. However, Jazz was quick to slide down at home plate in time to avail some runs on board for his team. Having said that, Chisholm appeared to have hurt his left elbow in the process, as he was taken out of the game in the seventh innings.

DJ LeMahieu was moved back to third base, and Ben Rice took over first base duties. “My adrenaline was still going, so I didn’t feel it right away,” Jazz Chisholm said about his injury. Meanwhile, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Jazz’s X-Ray reports were negative and that the infielder is in good spirits. However, Chisholm’s left elbow is still sore, and hence, the team has scheduled an MRI test for Tuesday. While Boone isn’t concerned about the severity of the injury, a precautionary MRI test will rule out any major concerns. “Still kind of sore, but I think that we’re going to be good,” Boone said. Needless to say, Jazz has been a key piece of Yank’s second-half resurgence, and they need him back in the lineup at any cost. The most likely scenario is to treat Chisholm day-to-day with a couple of days of rest.

Jazz Chisholm Reacts To Being Called ‘Overrated’

Meanwhile, The Athletic conducted a survey of 100 MLB players to deem the most overrated player in the league. Interestingly, 20.3 per cent of the votes fell into Jazz Chisholm’s tally, thus giving him the unfortunate title. Unsurprisingly, Chisholm hit back at his critics. He revealed that he knows the names of all 11 players who voted for him but refused to spill it out.

“If you voted that I’m overrated, that means you got something in your psyche, brother,” Jazz Chisholm Jr said. The New York Yankees infielder further added that he would never call someone overrated because he doesn’t look at people that hard. Still, if some people said that he was overrated, Chisholm embraced it as a compliment.
