Gleyber Torres’ Again Complaints Of Right Groin Tightnesses
The New York Yankees faced another setback as second baseman Gleyber Torres exited the game against the Boston Red Sox with groin tightness. Batting 1-for-2, Torres exited the game in the fourth inning. With Aaron Judge and Juan Soto loading first and second base, Torres slammed an infield hit and due to an error from shortstop Rafael, the second baseman successfully loaded all the bases. However, Torres complained of discomfort in his groin area and was removed from the game shortly after. Notably, Tores faced a similar issue last month during the Orioles series. He missed a game due to a low-level groin strain. However, the Yanks downplayed the concern and included him back in the lineup following a 2-day rest.
However, it appears Gleyber Torres rushed through his recovery, and as a result, the right groin tightness has relapsed. That being said, the New York Yankees shared a piece of good news via their official social media handle. Firstly, the club confirmed the groin injury and stated that doctors do not feel the need for any imaging scans for now. Not only that, manager Aaron Boone reaffirmed that Torres’ injury isn’t significant and he likely won’t have to miss any time. Having said that, the infielder’s season has been rocky, to say the least. After a prolonged slump, he was benched for two days. But when he returned, Torres shut his critics with a two-run home run. He then recorded extra-base hits for seven straight games. In 87 appearances, Torres has maintained a .223 average with eight home runs, 33 RBIs and .641 OPS.
Aaron Boone Reacts To Yankees ‘Extremely Tough Loss’ Vs Red Sox
The New York Yankees extended its losing streak on Friday by suffering a 5-3 loss to arch rivals Boston Red Sox at home. In what turned out to be a 10-inning game, the Bronx Bombers failed to hold nerves as multiple blunders cost the game. Meanwhile, skipper Aaron Boone has acknowledged that these are testing time for the team.
“You get extremely tough losses when you are going through it,” Boone said. However, Aaron Boone suggested that the New York Yankees have no time to relax and sulk. They have to turn the page quickly and save the series over the upcoming weekend. Notably, the Red Sox series will resume on Saturday at the Yankee Stadium.
