The New York Yankees have missed the services of their key starting pitchers this season. The likes of Carlos Rodon, Tommy Kahnle, Frankie Montas, and Jonathan Loaisiga are serving time on the injury list, which has resulted in a depletion of the depth. Under such grave circumstances, many predicted the team to break apart.

However, the bullpen rose on the occasion to save the Yankees from the worst. The Yankees bullpen has a mixed set of relievers and closers. Each time any starter faced an issue, the bullpen jumped in to rescue. Many youngsters also performed above the set expectations and made a good name for themselves. Moreover, on the recent road trip, the bullpen scripted a unique record for themselves.

The New York Yankees jetted off on a seven days road trip last week wherein they played seven games combined with Tampa Bay Rays and Cincinnati Reds. While the series against the Rays resulted in a split, the Bronx Bombers cleanly swept the Reds. Moreover, the bullpen depth emerged as the most successful group of the road trip. Michael King, Wandy Peralta, Ron Marinaccio, Ryan Weber, and Clay Holmes filled in the bullpen and posted a low 2.87 ERA. It also happens to be the lowest bullpen ERA in the whole of MLB right now.

Aaron Boone, the Yankees manager, gave the credit where it was due and lauded the bullpen pitchers. The guys have stepped up in high-pressure situations and delivered to perfection. Boone further added the management has been trying to assign multiple roles to the bullpen as per their expertise, and he is glad that the pitchers have performed well in those areas. Luis Severino, the Yankees starter, too, praised his teammates and said what they are producing on the mound is unbelievable. Each and every member of the pitching staff is contributing in their capacity, which is a good sign for the Yankees, who are short on starters.

MLB Analyst Refers To Aaron Boone As The “Best Manager In Baseball”

In October, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone signed a three-year contract through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025. AP

50-year-old former baseball player Aaron Boone joined the New York Yankees as the office manager in 2018. Under his reign, the team has made five postseason appearances and two AL Championship appearances. Despite this, the Yankees have failed to grab the ultimate World Series trophy. Due to this, many fans have discredited the manager’s efforts which is wrong, feels MLB analyst Craig Carton.

Carton said that Aaron Judge is the best manager in MLB and deserves the sole credit for the Yankees’ resurgence in the month of May. He acknowledged that Boone has failed to get that ultimate championship but handling an injury-plagued Yankees is no joke. Boone has given his best, and the outside circumstances are beyond his control. But if there exists one person who can perfectly guide the Yankees’ ship, it’s Aaron Boone. Nobody at the present can do a better job than him.
