Yankees\’ Bullpen Getting Affected Negatively With These Two Contracts! Who Are They?

Josh Donaldson Yankees

Donaldson

The New York Yankees have been on a constant roll this season, trading and acquiring several players for their squad in th upcoming season. Over the past few weeks, they have acquired four players from the free agency while they also have eyes on some trade. However, in the midst of all this, there are two players who are not fitting well in the team\’s scheme of things.

Yankees\’ Problem With Josh Donaldson And Aaron Hicks!

Thanks to the contracts signed by Aaron Judge and Carlos Rodon this summer, the New York Yankees\’ payroll increased. The Yankees might have caused considerably more harm, but two contracts are impeding their progress. Aaron Hicks and Josh Donaldson are two players the Yankees hope to trade this offseason. But until they locate a trading partner, they won\’t be able to get rid of those useless parts.

Aaron Hicks and Josh Donaldson have reportedly not attracted any suitors, despite the Yankees\’ efforts. Donaldson was excellent at third base. His famed bat speed is disputed, though. Carlos Correa was unable to work for them owing, among other reasons, to Donaldson\’s presence and remuneration. According to a recent article in The New York Post, the Yankees may have been more interested in signing Carlos Correa had they not made commitments to two other players.

Josh Donaldson, whose four-year, $92 million contract has one year remaining, received one of the contracts. Despite the likelihood that the Yankees won\’t exercise his option, Donaldson will make $21 million in 2023 and owe $6 million for 2024. Donaldson, 37, had an OPS of.682 and batted.222. Compared to past years, his power stats decreased last year. Nonetheless, he is recognized as a solid defensive third baseman.

The Yankees extended Aaron Hicks\’ contract by seven years and $70 million before the 2019 campaign, and that deal is the other one. Hicks has been injured and underperforming the previous two seasons. Rendering the $29.5 million he is owed until 2025, a waste. Hicks didn\’t look like the player that excelled in 2018 and earned a contract extension. He batted.216 with a.642 OPS in his last season. This was down from the man who battled in his first four seasons in the MLB.

The Yankees won\’t receive any significant talent in exchange for any of those guys. This would just be a cost-saving measure that would free up one or two spots on the 40-man roster. It\’s far simpler to say than to accomplish to find a team willing to take a chance on adding one of these two to their squad and salary.

After losing out on Andrew Benintendi, New York is still looking for a starting left fielder, and they need to change. Hicks may be deployed as a fourth outfielder in the next season. However, the worst-case scenario would be for him to open the season in the starting lineup.
