The New York Yankees missed DJ LeMahieu in the ongoing regular season. He fractured his right foot during the spring training. Moreover, the NY side had quite a few injury issues during the Grapefruit League games. Besides DJ, there was obviously Gerrit Cole, the ace starting pitcher of the Bronx Bombers. Both these veteran players have suffered severe injuries that got their names on the 60-day Injured List. As a result, Cole and DJ have not yet played a single game in the 2024 regular season.
Other than the 2023 AL Cy Young winner and the three-time All-Star infielder, the key player who had an injury scare during the spring training was Aaron Judge. Albeit, the Yankees captain did not have a similar severe injury case like Cole and DJ, he missed a few games in the Spring Training. Judge suffered from an abs injury during spring training. But he has managed to play every game in the ongoing regular season. At present, the Yankees have received some positive updates on DJ LeMahieu. He might soon return to the lineup.
DJ LeMahieu About To Return To The Rotation
This week, the third baseman has been on a rehab assignment. Latest reports from the Yankees suggest that the veteran infielder can return sooner than expected. DJ LeMahieu can be back in Major League action on Tuesday, next week. That’s the earliest return possibility for the veteran infielder to the Yankees lineup. So far, the NY side has been enjoying a hot start to the season. They are on top of the American League East division. But the two key members – DJ LeMahieu and Gerrit Cole have missed it so far. Currently, the Yankees are playing a four-game series against the Seattle Mariners. Next weekend, the Yankees will play against the San Diego Padres as an away game. Later, on Tuesday, the Yankees will meet the Los Angeles Angels.

Perhaps by then, DJ LeMahieu will be fit to return to the rotation for the first time since he suffered a non-displaced fracture in his right foot. The All-Star infielder has been part of the Yankees since 2019. He has been the mainstay at third base ever since. DJ is 35 years old, the eldest member in the 40-man roster of the NY side. He has been facing multiple foot problems over the last two years. Anyway, his rehab assignment is underway, and he will have two more appearances in the minor league over this weekend. If he stays fit, he can join the team on Tuesday at Anaheim.
What’s The Rehab Program Of The All-Star Infielder For The Week Ahead Looks Like?
On Tuesday, DJ LeMahieu appeared in the Triple-A game for Hudson Valley Renegades as in his latest rehab assignment. On the night, he went 1-3 and hit an RBI single. DJ had an inspiring performance on Tuesday night. Clearly, the Yankees who are doing so well right now must be glad to have him back in their rotation.
