Will Gerrit Cole And Nestor Cortes LEAD Yankees\’ To Success In Game 3 Against Houston Astros?

Yankees

The New York Yankees are cruising into the final stages of the MLB 2022 season. However, the team is missing Aroldis Chapman and Clay Holmes, two of the important members of their squad. On top of that, Aaron Hicks also got injured recently and is scheduled to miss the entire ALDS series. Thus, their journey from here on will not be an easy one. Looks like the team will heavily rely on Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes in addition to if they wish to lift the title this season.

Yankees Need Gerrit Cole & Nestor Cortes To Step Up!

With New York behind the Houston Astros 2-0 in the American League Championship Series, the $324 million pitcher for New York will take the mound at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. Gerrit Cole defeated the Guardians in game one of the Division Series. And although the Yankees fell behind 2-1 in the best-of-five series, he defeated Cleveland in game four to send the match back to the Bronx. When New York defeated Cleveland and prepared to start the game at home, Cole was warming up in the bullpen at Yankee Stadium.

With Thursday night\’s 3-2 loss, New York\’s record of 23 playoff games with a home run came to an end. As a result of the loss, the Yankees now need to win at least twice on the road to move the series to Houston. On Sunday, they will depend on Cole and Nestor Cortes to make things right. Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes are the only players left in the Yankee season. If the Yankees win Games 3 and 4, it will give them a chance to explain the Astronomical by avoiding yet another elimination at the hands of Houston if they so choose.

Due in major part to a lack of batters, the Yankees are running out of pitches in the 2022 season. That Matt Carpenter did and that Andrew Benintendi, DJ LeMahieu, and Matt Carpenter all returned. However, the poor performance he had in each of his seven playoff at-bats has left the Yankee lineup depleted.

They have played seven postseason games, hitting just .169. The team also overcame the slump and defeated the ALDS Guardians. Evidently, the AL Central is the go-to target for the Yankees, but the Guardians are from there. Looks like the Yankees are used as a punching bag by Houston Astros. In losing both games at Minute Maid, including a 3-2 setback in Game 2, they have nine hits and four runs.

Meanwhile, the Astros are evidently putting up strong performances. All that stands in the way of Houston defeating the Yankees for the fourth time in the playoffs since 2015 is Cole on Saturday and Cortes on Sunday. In these postseason games, the Yankees are 3-4. In his two starts, Cole has prevailed. Cortes won a pivotal Game 5 of the ALDS on three days\’ rest.
