Who Could Solve Red Bull’s Perez Dilemma? Ricciardo or Lawson

Sergio Perez

RBR Daily

The Sergio Perez dilemma had bothered the Red Bull team for a while. A team that was once dominating the racing circuit now appears vulnerable. Moreover, the Milton Keynes-based outfit might lose the Constructors Cup to McLarem after the Papay crew’s resurgence. Thus, the misery for the reigning world champions is far from over.

Therefore, the question arises whether Ceco will continue driving for Red Bull or if there will be a shocking revelation. The 2024 season has been filled with shockers, from Feerari signing Hamilton to Newey’s RBR exit. The Red Bull team could send one more shockwave through the paddock as they decide the driver’s lineup.

The Racer’s Musical Chairs: Who Will Drive The RB20 In Zandvoort?

Planet Sports

Sergio Perez is an experienced racer who made his debut in 2011. With plenty of potential, the Mexican driver was considered one of the most versatile drivers. However, he never did justice to his potential, as his every season looks identical. The 34-year-old racer starts on a high note. However, he hits a blockade in the middle of the season, and things go downhill. It happened to him this season as well. To further aggravate RBR’s woes, the rival teams have improved significantly, while RB20’s development has hit the ceiling. As a result, Red Bull might fail to defend its world title.

Although there is a lot of noise around Checo’s Red Bull future, he is in a safe spot. The Mexican racer is 100% sure of continuing with the team, as his contract is until the end of 2025. Moreover, the team is already in a chaotic situation, and further increasing the entropy would be the last thing on its list. While Helmut Marko hinted at Checo’s early exit, he might prevail.

However, if RBR decides to swap drivers, Daniel Ricciardo is the biggest name. The experienced Australian driver is a perfect replacement for Perez, and thus, he could be a great choice to drive in Zandvoort. On the other hand, New Zealander Liam Lawson is also a potential candidate. The racer has impressed the RBR management and is in contention. However, if Red Bull promotes Ricciardo, Lawson will get a seat alongside Yuki Tsunoda in VCARB. However, these remain speculations until an official confirmation from Red Bull Racing arrives.
