Yankees Expected to Feel Loss of Wandy Peralta After He Signed With Padres

New York Yankees sought a starting pitcher, targeting Japanese sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the offseason.

Despite high expectations, Yamamoto signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, leaving the Yankees disappointed.

In their pursuit, the Yankees signed lefty sluggers like Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Trent Grisham to address outfield issues.

To bolster the pitching depth, the Yankees secured Marcus Stroman on a two-year deal but missed out on Blake Snell.

Wandy Peralta was another option for bullpen depth, but he recently signed with the San Diego Padres.

MLB Insider Andy Martino highlighted that the Yankees will likely miss Peralta's contribution and mentioned the team's unsuccessful attempt to sign him.

The New York Post suggests both the Yankees and Mets were interested in Peralta, who ultimately signed a four-year, $16.5 million deal with the Padres, including three opt-out clauses.
