BCCI Likely to Exclude Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from Central Contracts 

Central Contract Announcement The BCCI is expected to release the list of centrally-contracted players for the 2023-24 season shortly. However, it is reported that two prominent names, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer,  

Punishment for Non-compliance  Despite repeated warnings from the BCCI, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer have not played in the Ranji Trophy, leading to potential consequences in the form of exclusion from the central contracts list. 

Selector's Decision The selectors, under the leadership of Ajit Agarkar, have reportedly finalized the list of centrally-contracted players. The exclusion of Kishan and Iyer is imminent as they have not fulfilled the BCCI's requirement to participate in domestic red-ball cricket 

Non-participation in Ranji Trophy:  Ishan Kishan failed to feature in any Ranji Trophy match for Jharkhand this season, while Shreyas Iyer, although part of the Mumbai squad, made himself unavailable for a crucial quarter-final encounter citing back spasms, despite being declared fit by the National Cricket  

Strict Warning from BCCI  BCCI secretary Jay Shah issued a stern warning to contracted players before the India vs England Test series, emphasizing the importance of playing red-ball cricket as per the selectors' and team management's directives. 

Uniform Application of Rules  Shah reiterated that all contracted players must adhere to the requirement of playing red-ball cricket uniformly. This rule applies to every player, regardless of seniority or age, ensuring fairness and accountability across the board. 

Empowerment of Selection Committee Shah affirmed that the chairman of the selection committee would have the autonomy to make decisions regarding player selection based on their commitment to playing red-ball cricket,
