Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton fell short of securing a victory this season, let alone contesting for a world championships. At the end of the final round of the 2023 season, the Silver Arrows barely defended P2 in the constructors championship. They were ahead of Ferrari by a mere three points.
Nevertheless, the pain of witnessing a winless season will haunt Mercedes and especially Lewis Hamilton throughout the winter. Hamilton, in particular, hasn’t secured a P1 finish since the 2021 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Thus, for an elite driver in search of a record-breaking eight championship title, the season was disastrous per se. However, team principal Toto Wolff has a plan to guide the seven-time champions to his ultimate dream.
Toto Wolff Reveals The Secret To Unlock The Beast Inside Of Lewis Hamilton!
Lewis Hamilton seemed dejected after recording an abysmal weekend in Abu Dhabi. He didn’t make it in Q3 of the qualifying session and barely made it to the points tally during the main race. And with that, the seven-time world champion extended his winless streak to two straight seasons. However, without the record eight titles, the Briton won’t call it quits on his illustrious career as he extended his stay in Mercedes till the end of 2025. But how will the Silver Arrows help Lewis with his final dance? First things first is to build a car capable enough to lead the pack, says team principal Toto Wolff.
The Austrian added that Lewis Hamilton has not lost his old self. He is still the same driver who won seven world titles in the past. It’s just that the machinery the British driver was given to drive was wrecked. Toto Wolff firmly believes that if provided with a decent car, Hamilton can come alive to chase victories like he did in the past. Thus, the engineers’ job back in the Brackley factory is to avoid miscues in car development this winter. Besides helping Hamilton, Wolff also wants Mercedes at the top where it belongs. He revealed how the team has a board with a list of constructors champions back in the factory in the UK. “We have the badges for each of the years, and there are 27 empty badges, and I would like to look back in 20 years and say there are many more Mercedes stars,” concluded Toto.
Hamilton Makes Big Promises Ahead Of 2024 Season!
Despite repetitive setbacks, Lewis Hamilton isn’t ready to give up just yet. After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix concluded, the Briton shared a detailed post on his Instagram, thanking the fans for their unconditional support. He says he wouldn’t have made it thus far without the fans’ support, and Lewis has nothing but gratitude towards them in his heart.
Speaking of the 2024 season, Lewis Hamilton promised a startling comeback. The British driver said he and his team, Mercedes, will be back with exhilarating performances. They have a lot of work to do, but the team is headed in the right direction, says Hamilton. Hopefully, the fans get to see a much more competitive season in 2024.
