New York Yankees star Juan Soto faced an untimely injury scare last week during the series finale against Minnesota Twins. The game started as usual and everything seemed fine until rain gods decided to show up to halt the game for a brief period. After an hour of downpour, the game resumed.

But Juan Soto was nowhere to be found as he had reported discomfort in his forearm. The New York Yankees not only removed him from the game but also benched Soto for the entire LA Dodgers series. That being said, on the fateful night, manager Aaron Boone shared a hilarious story about how he had to convince Alex Verdugo to come in for Soto.

The New York Yankees encountered the biggest scare of the active season last week when Juan Soto, the generational talent, exited the Twins game with forearm discomfort. He later revealed that the issue first flared up two weeks ago, and he has just been grinding through it as it never interfered with his baseball-related activities. Interestingly, Soto was benched for the entire home series against the LA Dodgers, which further raised speculations regarding Soto’s health status. However, manager Aaron Boone recently confirmed that Soto is fine and his absence from the Dodgers series was nothing but a precautionary measure. He also shared a hilarious story of the fateful night while talking on the Talkin Yank’s podcast.

Aaron Boone said Juan Soto was hitting and throwing fine until the rain halted play. Dr Chris Ahmad evaluated him during the break and decided not to push it. He advised Soto to go for imaging for his and the team’s peace of mind. However, Boone had a tough time convincing Alex Verdugo to replace Soto on the field for the rest of the game. Boone said he went to Verdugo to tell him that he had given Soto the night off and that he would have to take his place. However, with Soto being completely healthy during the game, Verdugo refused to believe Boone and thought he was fooling him. The skipper revealed that he had to try hard to convince Alex that Juan Soto was indeed out of the lineup with forearm discomfort and that he would have to take his place.

Aaron Boone Defends Yankees Fans After Trent Grisham Incident

Things got heated with him at the Yankee Stadium during the Dodgers series when the crowd erupted in ‘We Want Soto’ chants during Trent Grisham’s at-bat. Notably, Grisham was filling in for Juan Soto as the latter was sitting out with forearm discomfort. Trent Grisham meanwhile hit back with a three-run bomb in cinematic reply.

Having said that, Aaron Boone backed Yankees fans, saying that Soto chants weren’t meant as disrespect toward Trent Grisham. It was just the fans’ love for Juan Soto. However, the Yankees manager also loved to see the camaraderie as Aaron Judge stood up for Grisham by calling out the fans behaviour in post game interview.
