The Golden State Warriors are looking to make big changes this offseason. There is still no confirmation if they will let Klay Thompson go. But if they do, the team will direly need another superstar shooting guard to balance the roster. Now, who is the other option for the seven-time champions? There might be a few names available in the free agency for the GSW to look at. Thompson had his worst season last time since the 2012-2013 season in terms of scoring and shooting average. He messed it up when the team needed him the most.

Moreover, Thompson had a scoreless outing against the Sacramento Kings in the play-in tournament. Eventually, the Warriors lost and couldn’t make the playoffs. Now, the franchise must look at other better options. It won’t be easy to replace the 34-year-old shooting guard. But Thompson’s free agency might lead him to the Orlando Magic, as they have shown a lot of interest in the sharpshooter. Now, an NBA insider said the Warriors are showing a lot of interest in a nine-time All-Star, perhaps as a replacement for Klay Thompson.

Warriors Want To Sign Paul George

Recently, Marc Stein of NBC Sports mentioned that he has a pretty good feeling about the Warriors going after Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers. Not just the Dubs but the New York Knicks are also showing interest in George. Moreover, Stein added that throughout the league, there has been a “Growing feeling” about a realistic situation where Paul George picks up his player option of $48.8 million for the 2024-2025 season. It might be a way to force the LA Clippers to trade George. After all, they have been through several months of negotiations regarding contract extensions that were eventually “Fruitless.” The nine-time All-Star will have time until Saturday to make his choice if he wants to use his player option for the upcoming season.

Free agency will begin just a day before his time to decide gets over. As per reports from Stein, GSW is “Aggressively” looking for their trade options. Chris Paul is kind of at the center of those options that the team is exploring. For the next season, the Warriors have until Friday to exercise or decline the veteran point guard’s team option that’s worth $30 million. Besides Klay Thompson, Paul George is the other name that is looking to make a big free agency splash this offseason. If the Warriors eventually land him, former teammate of George, Patrick Beverley will be another interesting option.

Dubs Wouldn’t Want To Trade JK

There have been several times when the Warriors made it clear that they don’t want to trade Jonathan Kuminga. He had a breakout season in the 2023-2024 edition. Hence, the Dubs look at JK as their up and rising young star. On Monday, though, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the Warriors might let go of JK if they receive an All-NBA player in return.

Clearly, the GSW is looking for the right price to let their up and rising star go. Their offseason agenda contains several things, including Klay Thompson’s free agency, Kevon Looney’s non-guaranteed salary, which they might just guarantee it this offseason. Adding to those agendas, JK’s future with the franchise is another important concern.
