Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees captain, is in the midst of a historic season with .333/.465/.736 slash line, 51 home runs, 122 RBIs and 1.197 OPS across 130 games. These video game numbers could very well propel Judge to his second career AL-MVP award by the end of the season.

Of course, the ultimate goal for Aaron Judge is to win a championship for the New York Yankees, a goal that hasn’t been achieved since 2009. However, with every hit now, Judge appears to unlock a new milestone. Recently, during the series opener against Washington Nations, Judge breached a significant four-digit figure.

Amid a majestic season, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge embraced another significant career milestone during the Monday series opener against the Washington Nationals. Judge hit a line drive to the right field off Nats’ lefty Jose Ferrer to bring up his 1000th career hit. He is now the 55th active player to have 1,000 hits and only second after Mark McGwire to score 300 career home runs before breaching the 1,000 hits mark. Not only that, Judge is the 42nd Yankee to record 1,000 hits. After reaching the iconic milestone, Judge was quick to reflect on the journey rather than the milestone itself. Staying true to his humble nature, Judge downplayed the individual accomplishment.

Instead, emphasized his commitment to being a good hitter and an even better teammate. “I got to this point trying to be a good hitter and a good teammate, so that’s what I’m going to try to do,” Judge said. The New York Yankees captain added that he needs to stay locked in through the end of the year, and the numbers will pile up accordingly. For Aaron Judge, the focus has always been on contributing to the team’s success rather than personal accolades. His approach to the game is rooted in a team-first mentality, where every hit, every at-bat, is seen as a way to help the Yankees win. That being said, reaching 1,000 hits is no small feat, especially in a career that has been as scrutinized and celebrated as Judge’s. It places him among the elite hitters in the game and adds to his growing legacy as a Yankees legend.

While Aaron Judge, the towering hitter is being celebrated for his majestic numbers, the defensive side of Judge was on full display against the Nations on Monday. Judge pulled up a remarkable play on the centre field to deny Nations a game-tying home run. Andres Chaparro launched a big hit to left centre field off Nestor Cortes in the fourth inning.

However, Aaron Judge stretched his gloves over the wall and used every inch of his 6-foot-7 height to grab a leaping catch and throw it back towards the infield, where second baseman Gleyber Torres swiftly competed a double play. The astonishing play kept Nationals scoreless as New York Yankees thrived on the 2-0 lead to fetch a 5-2 victory.
