Toto Wolff Moving To Williams? Who Will Lead Mercedes After His Departure?

Toto Wolff

Williams remained one of the backward teams on the grid this year. The team finished the 2021 season at P8 in the constructor\’s championship with Nicholas Latifi and George Russell. After the team change in 2022, Nicholas and Alex Albon expected a good season this year, but unfortunately, the momentum could not be continued. The team had to round off the season at the bottom of the constructor\’s championship, counting only 27 points.

This year, Williams\’s rivals, especially Haas and Alfa Romeo, succeeded in improving their performance. Adjusting to new rules this year was difficult; even Mercedes failed to do that. Yet Haas and Alfa Romeo made an increased performance this year, finishing eighth and sixth, respectively.

One of the reasons for Williams scoring shocking 27 points this season is the driver change; they lost George Russell this year. To mark an improved performance, the team decided to make another change in the seats, with Nicholas Latifi being replaced by Logan Sargeant. Alex Albon did comparatively great but still could not fill the void that Russell left.

Meanwhile, not only the drivers but also the team\’s bosses have been facing transformations in different paddocks of Formula One. From Mattia Binotto\’s exit, there have been several vacant seats and proposals for the boss role in different teams. Recently, Williams boss Jost Capito and technical director Francois-Xavier Demaision announced to march exit from the team, resigning their respective positions.

Not Toto Wolff, But Susie Wolff Sits Perfect For Williams\’ Boss Role

And, to fill the vacant seat, the one name that shocked everyone is TOTO WOLFF\’s wife, SUSIE! She has been under consideration for the position of Williams\’ principal since 2023.

Susie Wolff had a relevant past for the role. She had already raced in Formula Renault and Formula 3 and also has been an F1 test driver for Williams in 2014. Later, she became a Formula E team principal. And, now, the Scottish-born is in discussions for becoming the Mercedes-linked Venturi racing team\’s principal. Wolff was serving in the CEO position. But after the 2020-21 Formula E season, she moved to the role, followed by Maserati\’s takeover. She indeed has the CV which sits perfectly for the vacancy of being a boss of a Formula One team.

Toto Wolff was quite impressed to see Susies\’ proposal to become Williams\’ boss in FIA meetings. If he agrees to provide that role, it will be interesting to see such a change in the paddock. Chances for Susie to accept the offer are high as her husband is already the boss of one the most dominant team of F1.

Now, the question is, will Susie Wolff herself will like to accept the offer of being the chief of a Formula One team leading the team to perform 24 races, or will she reject the offer? Let\’s see if Williams sends the proposals to others, too, in hopes of seeing a good result next season.
