Aaron Judge is among the biggest names in modern-day baseball. He is the captain of the New York Yankees. In 2022, the California native surpassed the franchise great Roger Maris to become the new record holder of most homers in a single regular season. Then, the NY side’s captain managed to hit a record 62 home runs. It was then that MLB adjudged him the 2022 AL MVP winner. Later that year, he was the highest-paid free agent. Judge signed a nine-year deal worth $360 million with the Bronx Bombers.

Moreover, the 27-time World Series champions made him their new and 16th captain in franchise history, succeeding Derek Jeter. Ever since his epic MVP-winning season in 2022, Aaron Judge has become one of the most popular faces of the major league. Moreover, the California native is on his way to winning another AL MVP this year. He can even lead the Yankees to end their title drought in 2024. But what makes him so different from the others? Lately, an NFL legend gave his view on the greatness of the Yankees captain.

On the YES Network broadcast, Eli Manning, the New York Giants legend, talked about the Yankees captain on Sunday. He even believes that Aaron Judge could excel in football as well. The former Giants star mentioned, “What I see is a tight end.” Manning pointed at the huge physique of the California native that helps in building the tight end. He noted, “Whenever I see Judge, I feel, ‘he’s a monster.'” Moreover, it is not just the opinion of Manning but his wife and kid’s too. The former Giants quarterback said his wife was like, “Oh my goodness, he is a big man.” When the legendary quarterback says Judge could excel in football, too, he is not wrong. Back in high school, the Yankees captain was a three-sport athlete.

He was playing football, basketball and, of course, baseball. Later, in college, when it came down to choosing one sport, Judge chose baseball. It was a good decision, as it turned out that he is one of the best hitters the league has ever seen. However, Manning, a two-time Super Bowl winner, feels if Judge had chosen football, he would have done well on the gridiron as well. Clearly, the California native keeps proving his skills as an outfielder, while making plays. Would these skills help him in a possible football career?

High School Coach Of The Yankees Captain Talked About His Attempt At Becoming QB

Recently, in an interview with Bleacher Report, coach Mike Huber mentioned that Judge did not stick at quarterback because he was not that good at throwing the ball. But then, they decided to make him a receiver. That turned out to be a wise choice because Aaron seemed to be prolific at that. Clearly, the present-day Yankees captain was once a promising football player.

However, if fans assume that Judge was a QB because he has a cannon of a right arm, they are wrong. Huber added that in high school, Aaron Judge was 225 pounds at the end of his senior year. He was big but coach said that still he was lanky and really quick too. Moreover, Huber noted, “He could run.”
