“This Is Unacceptable,” New York Yankees’ Luis Severino Annoyed Over His Recent Slump

Luis Severino, the talented right-handed pitcher for the New York Yankees, made a comeback at the time the team needed him the most. The Bombers, since the start of the season, have played with an incomplete rotation. Nestor Cortes, Carlos Rodon, and Frankie Montas are all missing as they fight an unwavering battle with injuries.

Severino’s fate was no different than his peers. He, too, missed more than a month of the 2023 MLB season due to a lat strain. On top of that, the Yankees’ highly criticized cautious approach further delayed the pitcher’s return. Regardless, after a lengthy delay, Luis made his way back to the mound but has recorded a mediocre performance per se. More than the fans, Luis Severino himself remains frustrated over his own outings.

Luis Severino Gives Up Three Homes Runs Vs. White Sox, Extremely Frustrated With Self

New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino, known for his electric stuff and dominant outings, has struggled to find his old rhythm on the mound. His recent struggles on the mound have stayed at the opposite of his usual dominant performances. After returning from a long injury layoff, expectations were high for Severino to make a significant impact on the Yankees’ pitching staff. However, he has struggled to find consistency and has experienced difficulties with his command and pitch execution. These struggles have resulted in below-average performances and elevated earned run averages.

Last night, Luis Severino made a start in the first matchup of the doubleheader against the White Sox. He ended up giving three home runs and leaked a total of four runs in five innings. Not only that, the pitcher has given away an awful lot of runs in his past few outing. The root cause of his struggle is the drop in average velocity. Yet, Severino fails to figure out what actually is not going his way. Injury is not an issue, as confirmed by him. But, the pitcher is determined to find out a way to solve this. He understands that he cannot come up on the mound and give away 2-3 home runs in each start. It’s unacceptable for a pitcher like him to underperform at a time when the team is reeling under injuries. Let’s hope Luis Severino finds a way to solve the crisis and come out on top.

Yankees Nestor Cortes Lands On 15-Day IL With Shoulder Injury

New York Yankees’ pitching woes look unlikely to end anytime soon. As we await the return of LHP Carlos Rodon, another starting pitcher has landed on the injury list. Nestor Cortes has been officially placed on 15-day IL due to rotator cuff strain on the left shoulder. He was facing discomfort in between his starts. However, Cortes let it slide, thinking it would heal during off days.

However, as the issue lingered, the Yankees sent him for scans, and Nestor was diagnosed with left rotator cuff strain accordingly. His initial timeline is two weeks which could increase if the injury aggravates further. Cortes’s injury comes at the worst possible time for the Yankees. At a time when injuries have had the upper hand, the team needed a veteran like Cortes to hold the fort. Regardless, the Bombers have called in LHP Matt Krook from Triple-A for the time being.
