The New York Yankees have lot  22 of their last 32 games and in a latest heartbreak, the team was mortified by New York Mets. The Mets swept the two-game subway series with a dominating 12-3 victory in the finale held on Wednesday earlier this week.

Needless to say, the New York Yankees are not living up to the standards and with losses piling up, postseason aspirations have taken a massive hit. That being said, more than the results, the team’s demeanor on the field has irked legendary radio host Mike Francesa as he fumed at the Yanks in a 29-minute-long radio rant.

Mike Francesa Calls Out Yankees Shaken Body Language Amid Challenging Stretch

The New York Yankees are struggling to battle mid-season blues as a challenging stretch has taken a toll on their physical and mental well-being. However, the team is trying their best to stick together and weather the storm together. Having said that, the Bombers’ demeanor on the field has lacked the necessary spirit, as the player’s shoulders often get dropped following a loss or in the middle of a struggling outing. And legendary radio host Mike Francesa has a problem with it. Following the Yank’s series loss to the Mets, Mike went on a 29-minute long rant where he called out the team’s problematic culture and timid mindset. He started by saying how the Mets mortified the Yanks from top to bottom in the Subway series.

Not only that, Mike Francesa added that the New York Yankees lack competitiveness and have failed to uphold the franchise’s storied legacy. The current team does not walk and talk like a franchise, as the Yanks should, which is a massive disappointment. “They don’t act like Yankees, they don’t win like Yankees. They don’t compete like Yankees,” Francesa added. The radio host concluded that the entire organization should sit down, self-introspect, and take accountability for the team’s current state. He also called for a change in the organization’s culture as he believes the franchise hasn’t won a World Series in a long time, and there is a reason for it. The team cannot function and sustain like this, believes Francesa. “If they don’t sit down and make people accountable in their jobs, the postseason is going to crash and burn just like it has,” Francesa added.

Michael Kay Fires Yankees For Mindless High Payroll

The New York Yankees once again violated the luxury tax threshold this year with big signings. However, the on-paper prowess hasn’t translated on the field as the Yanks own a 60-44 record in AL-East. Meanwhile, Yankee ball-by-ball announcer Michael Kay criticized general manager Brian Cashman for mindlessly stacking up a high payroll.

He highlighted how Aaron Judge, Gerrit Cole, Juan Soto, Giancarlo Stanton and Carlos Rodon are making up 75% of the payroll. However, out of this only Judge and Soto have been performing as per their standards. Moreover, due to expensive contracts handed to star names, the team failed to invest in rookie contract and has led to depletion of depth required to filled roster gaps.
