The Summer is approaching, and the New York Yankees are still looking for players to stack up a strong lineup. The team nearly spent $300 million this off-season to construct one of the most feared lineups of the season. Fast forward a few months, and the team now ranks last in the American League East division. But how did they get here, and what can the team do to make up for the initial setbacks?

For starters, the Yankees are plagued by excessive injury concerns. Their top stars, namely Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Carlos Rodon, are serving time on IL as of this writing. Naturally, their absence is hurting the team big time. On top of that, the prospects from the farm system, such as Clarke Schmidt and Oswaldo Cabrera, have failed to live up to the expectations. Overall, many reasons collectively have contributed to the Yankees’ fall this season. But is the team still capable enough to stage a comeback from here?

The New York Yankees are over .500 but remain last in the AL-East table. On top of that, they are 10 games behind the table toppers, Tampa Bay Rays. While it’s just May, the Bombers have all the reasons to be concerned. They have had a rollercoaster season so far, with injuries, slumps, and inconsistencies plaguing their performance. As they head into the next stretch of games, it is a crucial time for the team to make or break their season.

Yankees’ podcasters Jake and Jomboy discussed the Yankee’s odds of coming out of this current slump. The duo pointed out that the Yankees must win the ongoing series against Oakland Athletics at any cost as they are matched up with competitive teams for the next stretch. The Bombers are scheduled to play four games each with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays. In that stretch, the Yankees must win at least three games to fight for the third spot, which is a tough ask. However, the return of Aaron Judge will give the Bombers a sense of confidence they badly need. Hence, the next couple of weeks remains highly crucial for the New York-based team as the results will determine their odds of a deep postseason run.

Brian Cashman Asks Fans Not to Lose Faith Just Yet

Amid the slump, New York Yankees general manager, Brian Cashman, turned up to calm down the fans’ concerns. He reckoned the Bronx Bombers are a championship-caliber team and will get back to winning ways once the key players return back from IL. Further, Cashman urged the fans not to give up on the team just yet as the season is still very long.

Regardless, all the assurance stands no meaning considering the promises the GM made during the off-season. After spending a bucketload of money on injury-prone players, Cashman stated that the team is capable of winning the World Series title this year. However, at the moment, the team is nowhere close to even qualifying for the postseason, let alone the ALCS. Hence, the GM must think deeply about his mistakes and try to salvage the situation to the best of his ability.
