A sense of desperation has kicked in for the New York Yankees after the highly anticipated Yoshinobu Yamamoto sweepstakes fell apart last week. The salient efforts were washed down the drain by Yamamoto as he signed with LA Dodgers for an extra $25 million. Nonetheless, the market has shrunk, but options remain available for the Bombers.

Having said that, many MLB insiders believe that the Yankees would opt for a reunion with Jordan Montgomery. However, the likeliness of that scenario is slime. Besides, Corbin Brunes, Frankie Montas, and Shota Imanaga remain the top available candidates. Meanwhile, Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Reports recently linked the team to a former CY Young awardee from Guardians.

The New York Yankees have emerged as a top landing spot for reigning Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber in what could potentially be a major trade. The former CY Young Award winner and two-time All-Star pitcher has been a star for Cleveland Guardians. His dominance on the mound, characterized by an impressive repertoire of pitches and the ability to rack up strikeouts, has made him a coveted asset for teams looking to bolster their pitching staff. Having said that, Bieber has hit arbitration, and the Guardians have not displayed significant interest in an extension. Therefore, unforeseen circumstances could lead Shane to seek a trade. If so happens, Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report has listed Yanks as top contenders.

The potential addition of Shane Bieber to the Yankees’ rotation would undoubtedly elevate the team’s pitching prowess and add a Cy Young-winning ace to their arsenal. Rymer added that Bieber needs to be on a team wherein he is not expected to perform as the team’s lead starter. That makes Yanks a perfect spot for him. Gerrit Cole has been and will remain the Bronx Bombers’ lead pitcher until the end of his term. Thus, all Bieber has to do is play a second fiddle. However, the trade deal would require the Bombers to opt for a bold approach. Bieber won’t come cheap, for sure. Thus, Brian Cashman and co need to put together a lucrative trade package to lure the Guardians. Overall, Shane Bieber is one of the best pitchers in the league when healthy. And thus, it’s ideal for Yanks to pursue the former CY Young awardee.

Yanks Also Floated As Top Landing Spot For Corbin Burnes!

Rumors have it that former CY Young awardee Corbin Burnes could be traded by the Milwaukee Brewers this off-season. The pitcher is set to enter his walk year in 2024. Moreover, Burnes is keen to enter free agency post-2024, as confirmed during the Foul Territory podcast. However, despite future uncertainty, Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report urges Yankees to pursue Burnes regardless.

He says that the Yankees have confirmed their plans to contest the championship in the upcoming season. The decision to trade Juan Soto for a one-year rental was a part of the same plan. Thus, Rymer urged the Yanks to emulate the same with Corbin Burnes and trade him from the Brewers on a one-year rental contract. It’s a risk, but to fall back on World Series contention, something has to give.
