The FIFA World Cup has not been a flop that everyone thought it would be because of controversies. Last night was a big night for Portugal to beat Uruguay to go ahead in the tournament. The South American team kicked Portugal out of the Group stages in the last World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo was on the pitch for 80 minutes of the game and even though he scored a goal for his team. But the official decision and replays say otherwise. The 37-year-old was trying to be cheeky to claim the goal of Bruno Fernandes. After the ball touched the net, the Portuguese striker celebrated with Fernandes. But the curve on the ball was so much that it could have entered the goal without a touch from CR7. However, the former United striker rose the highest to head the ball into the nets, and the ball did cross the goal line. Intially everyone thought their best player had scored again in the second match for his national team.
But after the checks from the VAR referees and replays shown on Television, it became clear that it was Bruno\’s goal. The Portuguese midfielder was at the top of his game and even scored a second in the game\’s dying moments. The second goal confirmed Portugal\’s spot in the tournament\’s next phase and was one step closer to the trophy. For Ronaldo, it\’s not about who scores as long as the team wins after the final whistle. Cristiano also mentioned in the Piers Morgan interview that he would be happy if the team won, no matter who scored.

Although if Ronaldo had scored, he would have leveled with the legendary striker Eusebio with 9 World Cup goals. In the post-match interview, Bruno told everyone that even they did not know who scored. He also mentioned that he aimed to set up Cristiano to score. Nonetheless, Fernandes became the man of the match for scoring two game-winning goals. All in all, it was a perfect night for the Portuguese team and the fans.
