Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are arguably two of the best hard hitters in the league at present. While Judge showed his prowess in the past couple of years by scripting a league record, Stanton’s form plummeted shortly after his 2019 MVP season. Not only that, the slugger hit rock bottom during the Yankees’ lost season in 2023.

In 2023, while the Yankees suffered from an offensive crisis, Giancarlo Stanton was coined as the biggest disappointment. He ended the year with a career-worst .191 batting average and .695 OPS across 101 games. Fans started to predict the end of Big G in the major league. But the veteran is not backing down without a fight. Aaron Boone, the Yankees manager, recently revealed Stanton’s plans for the 2024 season.

Giancarlo Stanton, a cornerstone of the New York Yankees’ lineup, faced challenges in the 2023 season that fell below his own lofty standards. While he struggled to stay healthy initially, the slugger failed to leave an impact after his return in May. It was, overall, a nightmarish season. However, the slugger isn’t ready to give up even as his back is against the wall. Stanton is still contracted through the 2027 season, and the pressure to justify the $98 million remaining salary is immense. Thus, in a bid to produce an awe-inspiring comeback, the former MVP has decided to shed weight and go lean in 2024.

In the latest press conference, Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed that Giancarlo Stanton will go lean this winter to be more athletic and less prone to injuries in 2024. While the 6-foot-6 guy has always been in good shape, at the final stage of his career, he will be required to go lighter. “Hopefully, that leads to him being more athletic on the bases. And not just an option in the outfield but a good option in the outfield. That’s, I think, something important to him,” said Boone. Stanton weighed approximately 245 pounds in the past couple of seasons. His enormous physique, which once made him a great hitter of the game, is now working against him. Nonetheless, Stanton remains committed to bringing a change, and Boone still feels that 2024 will be Big G’s year.

Jordan Montgomery Seeking A Carlos Rodon Type Contract!

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees remain active in the pitching market. While Yoshinobu Yamamoto is playing the waiting game, the Bombers want to keep alternatives ready in case things go sideways. One such reinforcement is ex-Yankee Jordan Montgomery. The starter recently played a crucial role in the Texas Rangers’ championship run and thus upped his ask as a free agent.

As per Jon Heyman, Jordan Montgomery is seeking a Carlos Rodon-type contract from its suitors, including the Yankees. Rodon fetched a six-year $162 million deal earlier this year, which included a no-trade clause. Rodon has proved to be an absolute bust for the Yanks in his first season. Will the Bronx Bombers be willing to take a risk for the second time in a row?
