The New York Yankees are doing the best they can in the offseason. They gained an extra month in the offseason owing to the elimination before the playoffs. But the organization is eager to make full use of the longer offseason. They have made some announcements already to kickstart their offseason. For instance, they waived six players who were just not fitting into the roster. In fact, Domingo German and Franchy Cordero were giving bad names to the NY side because of their off-field misconduct. Hence, the Yankees are better off without them. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers are looking to sign an elite left-handed outfielder like Juan Soto or Cody Bellinger.

There is a big name in the current free agency, which is Shohei Ohtani. But the Japanese sensation might not sign with the Yankees anytime soon. Anyhow, there are more changes happening to the Yankees this offseason. For instance, Sean Casey won’t return as their hitting coach anymore. The Yankees have made headlines after hiring a consulting firm to look over their analytics. It raised a lot of questions in the media. But on Day 2 of the GM Meetings in Scottsdale, Arizona, Brian Cashman had a heated conversation with reporters surrounding him on the road.

The Yankees GM reported that analytics don’t drive the franchise. Clearly, Cashman was very angry with the reporters or anybody spreading false rumors. He used the word “Bull***t” 10 times during that interview. Moreover, Brian Cashman believes his team is in a good state, and there is nothing wrong with it at present. At the Omni Resort & Spa at Montelucia, the Day 2 Meetings were wild. The Yankees GM made a lot of revelations other than just defending their analytics department. Moreover, it is clear that they are not yet sure if the major league coaching staff is returning from last season.

For instance, following the departure of Carlos Mendoza, Luis Rojas, the third base coach, is an internal candidate to be the new bench coach. Mendoza took over the managerial post of the city rivals, New York Mets. Moreover, Brian Cashman said most of the decisions will depend on the manager Aaron Boone. On top of that, the Yankees GM also mentioned that the team did not suffer any injuries since the regular season ended and none of them needed any offseason surgery. Moreover, the Yankees have the first priority to add two outfielders – one left and another center fielder. Also, the team will prefer these outfielders to be lefty hitters. Cashman did not speak specifically about free agents.

Moreover, Brian Cashman indicated that Jasson Dominguez might miss a few games even when he gets healthy and ready to return. The Yankees will feel the absence of “The Martian” in their lineup for a while. Moreover, the Yankees GM declined to say anything about the potential signing of the Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. But Cashman did say that they’ll look for starting pitchers in the market. It is essential to have more flexibility in the roster.

Moreover, Cashman hinted that Luis Severino’s rehab after his left oblique strain has been going well. Severino already started to throw, as per League sources. Moreover, The Athletic reported that the Yankees are looking to replace Sean Casey with James Rowson of the Detroit Tigers. The Tiger’s current assistant hitting coach is 47 at present. Previously, he played the role of the hitting coordinator of the Yankees minor league. Moreover, he was pretty tight with Aaron Judge when he was young.
