Hal Steinbrenner is changing his post every day. The unprecedented situation produced by an abysmal 2023 season has caught the New York Yankees owner off-guard as he desperately looks for a solution. After giving false hope to the fans, Hal retracted from his original stand of not wanting to count the team out despite them being in the last place in AL-East.

Steinbrenner confirmed conducting a third-party audit to “deep dive” into the organization’s day-to-day workings. However, once the Yankees’ September campaign reached its conclusion, Hal took a u-turn. Sources close to the owner said that he never intended to hire a third-party firm. Amid all this, other media reports have further added to the confusion as to what the billionaire wants exactly.

Moments after wrapping up the New York Yankees 2023 season campaign, captain Aaron Judge addressed the underlying issues. He raised doubts over the usage of analytics. To those unversed, the Bombers’ dependence on analytics has been widely criticized this season. Thus, the captain’s voice created a sense of urgency among the front office as owner Hal Steinbrenner is likely to change the goalpost once again. After Andy Martino of SNY claimed that the third-party audit plan had been shelved, Bill Madden of the New York Daily News offered a contrasting update.

In a detailed report, Madden mentioned that the Yankees have hired a third-party firm to audit the use of analytics. Moreover, the firm in question has experience in conducting audits of teams like the Boston Red Sox, among many more. Not only that, the audit will take into consideration the impact of analytics in coaching as well as trades. Many questionable trade deals made in the past few years will remain a part of the review. Bill also mentioned that the whole audit process will revolve around Aaron Judge’s concerns, which he voiced a few weeks ago. Judge said that the numbers were authentic. But the Yanks might be looking at the wrong ones. “I think we might be looking at the wrong ones. And maybe should value some other ones that some people might see as having no value,” said Judge.

Bombers Huddled Up In Tampa, Key Issues Discussed!

After wrapping up the lost season last month, the New York Yankees front office gathered up for the first round of meetings in the team’s training facility in Tampa, Florida. Hal Steinbrenner, Brian Cashman, and Aaron Boone reportedly marked their presence. Moreover, captain Aaron Judge, who resides in Tampa, also remained actively involved in discussions. While the specifics of the meeting are still unknown, sources made startling claims.

A source spoke to Bob Klapisch of NJ Media and said that Carlos Rodon’s failure was actively discussed. Apparently, the Yankees seem worried about his injury history and the manner in which the season has panned out for him. Since the contract stays sealed, the Bombers have no choice but to stick with him for the foreseeable future. Rodon managed only 17 starts this year, wherein his ERA shot up over 6.
