The New York Yankees need Juan Soto to stay healthy if they want to go deep into the playoffs this year. They started off well this season. But somehow, along the way, they started losing constantly. The Bronx Bombers have been the first team to win 50 games this season. However, since June 13, the NY side has lost way too many games. Prior to that date, the team was enjoying the top spot in the American League East division. However, they gave up the top spot to the Baltimore Orioles yet again, as they have been 6-16 in the last 22 games.
Suddenly, things are beginning to fall apart again for the Bronx Bombers. Juan Soto had been the most consistent player for the NY side in the first two months of the 2024 regular season. However, he has seen a little dip in his performance in the last few games. Moreover, he has been through a few injury scares. Lately, the Yankees manager said Soto is still feeling a bit of right-hand discomfort.
How Serious Is The Right Hand Injury Of Juan Soto?
On Tuesday, the Dominican superstar took a big swing at strike three of the third inning. Soon after, he looked like he was feeling a lot of pain. It is pretty concerning for the New York Yankees, especially if there are any injuries to Aaron Judge or Juan Soto. Anyhow, Soto chose to stay in the game on Tuesday, and again, he was back in the lineup on Wednesday. He went 2 for 4 in the much-needed win over the Tampa Bay Rays. On Wednesday, the Yankees won 2-1 against the division rivals, the Tampa Bay side. Later, Aaron Boone explained why Soto had an uncomfortable-looking swing. He said it was due to the right-hand discomfort that the Dominican slugger has felt since he banged his hand on the ground on June 28 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
At Tropicana Field on Wednesday, Boone said that every now and then, Soto takes a swing, and if it hurts him, he looks uncomfortable. However, the skipper tries to stay positive, saying, “He is doing pretty well with that, and clearly, it is not affecting his impact on the ball much.” After sustaining a few bruises to his right hand, Soto took some time and games to hit another home run. But it was quite clear that he was having difficulty swinging the bat. Hence, the manager had to scratch him from the rotation after he hurt his right hand. Finally, Boone said there are certain things, Soto might be still grinding about but it is not too concerning.
Aaron Boone Says Giancarlo Stanton Can Return Soon After The All-Star Break
As per the Yankees manager on Tuesday, Giancarlo Stanton “Did quite some running.” Next Friday, MLB will have the All-Star break. After that, Stanton can be ready to play some games after he returns to the lineup. The Bronx Bombers are still debating if the Designated Hitter will need to do go through a rehab assignment before he returns to the big league.
On June 22, Stanton suffered a hamstring strain. According to the New York Post, Aaron Boone mentioned they will consider all the options available at their disposal. He said, “We’ll see how guys are able to get ready and see things.” Moreover, the manager added that the team will try to make the best decision for everybody in the group.
