The New York Yankees front office was proud of their decision to trade Jazz Chisholm Jr from the Miami Marlins when the slugger scored four home runs in his first four games to script franchise history. Chisholm also achieved success at the Yankee Stadium after a few adjustments in approach.

However, the fairytale ended with an unfortunate injury. Jazz Chisholm Jr hurt his elbow while sliding down home to score on Anthony Volpe’s single against the Chicago White Sox earlier his week. While the New York Yankees were optimistic, MRI reports revealed a UCL injury, which led to his immediate placement on the injury list with an uncertain timeline.

The New York Yankees’ trade acquisition Jazz Chisholm Jr’s surge in Yankee uniform didn’t last long as the slugger encountered an unfortunate injury while hustling on the base paths to add some crucial runs on board for his team. Jazz dived on the home plate while trying to score from second base. While he scored, the catcher’s tap hurt his shoulder, leading to a premature exit from the game. Chisholm was treated by the White Sox physician, and his initial X-ray scans were spotless. However, the MRI scans conducted on the next day disclosed a UCL injury on the slugger’s left elbow. To determine the severity of the setback, the Yanks approached some specialist doctors to understand their opinions.

After careful contemplation following doctor’s recommendation, the New York Yankees announced a roster move on Wednesday. Jazz Chisholm Jr has been placed on 10-day IL with a left elbow sprain, which was categorized as an ailment and not an injury. Hence, the classification suggests that the Yanks are hopeful of Jazz’s return in the next 4-6 weeks. Surgery is potentially ruled out at the moment, but Chisholm has been shut down from performing any baseball activities, at least for the next few days. “He woke up feeling like, ‘I’m playing.’ Hopefully, it’s not something that’s too long,” Yankee manager Aaron Boone said in a press conference in Chicago. Needless to say, Jazz Chisholm Jr’s void in the hitting lineup will be felt as he had been consistent since the moment he arrived in the Bronx in late July.

Oswald Peraza Added To Yankees Roster As Chisholm’s Replacement

With Jazz Chisholm Jr. placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left elbow sprain, the New York Yankees have added Oswald Peraza to the roster as his replacement. Peraza, a promising young infielder, has been called up to provide depth and versatility in Chisholm’s absence. Notably, Peraza missed a chance to debut on opening day owing to a shoulder injury.

However, since recovery, the infielder has been showing signs of encouragement in the minor league. While he is primarily known for his ability to play shortstop, Peraza also offers flexibility at other infield positions, including Jazz Chisholm’s regular position, third base. For now, DJ LeMahieu is likely to play third base, with Peraza serving as backup infielder.
