The New York Yankees have been dealing with a lot of problems in recent times. One of the big concerns among them is their issue with umpires. Most notably, the NY side’s manager and the captain do not have a good equation with these umpires. How many times have the umpires wrongly called strikeouts on Aaron Judge? It has become a habit of these umpires never to correct their judgments. They tend to forget that the 2022 American League Most Valued Player is 6 feet 7 inches tall. Hence, the strike zone for him won’t be the same as that of the other guys.

However, the umpires have not changed or even improved their strike-out calls when Aaron Judge is at the plate. Even in 2024, they seem to be pretty stubborn about their decisions and calls. On the other hand, there is Aaron Boone, the manager of the NY side. How many times have the umpires ejected the Yankees skipper? It has happened quite a lot of times. Lately, in the game against the Oakland A’s, Aaron Boone received an unfair ejection. But the umpire said he won’t apologize to Boone.

Why Umpire Hunter Wendelstedt Won’t Apologize To The Yankees Manager?

The series between the Bronx Bombers and the A’s seems to get more and more intense. Currently, the two teams have won one each. The third game will be the series decider. However, what happened between Aaron Boone and umpire Hunter Wendelstedt in Game 1 is still a hot topic of discussion. According to Jordan Mendoza of USA TODAY, umpire Wendelstedt has no intention of apologizing to the Yankees manager after unfairly ejecting him. On Monday, from the very beginning of the game, the umpire and Boone went back and forth with each other. The umpire even warned Boone at first, saying that if he heard him say one more thing, he would eject him. Then, the umpire heard something and immediately ejected the Yankees skipper. Boone got out of the dugout and said it wasn’t him but that it was some fan who had said something out loud to the ump.

In reply, Hunter Wendelstedt mentioned that he does not care if it was someone else, he wants Boone out. Moreover, in the pool report, umpire Wendelstedt mentioned that the Yankees manager is responsible for everything that happens in the dugout. He also said that he never likes to eject a player because the fans come to see them play. Moreover, the ump sounded pretty confident about never ejecting a player or manager for something a fan has said in the entirety of his career. Hunter even admits that he is not sure it is Boone. He said he heard something come from the far end of the dugout. Moreover, he said it had nothing to do with the area of Boone, but as a manager, “He’s the one who had to go.”

Aaron Boone Might Reach Out To MLB

As per USA TODAY, umpire Hunter Wendelstedt said that there is a good chance that Boone did not make the comment. But he also said that as a manager, it is his responsibility for whatever happens in the dugout. Hence, the ump won’t apologize even though Boone “Took the hit” for something some fan said. After Monday’s game, Aaron Boone told the MLB reporters that the whole situation was “Embarrassing.”

Most importantly, the Yankees skipper mentioned that it was just “Not right.” Adding to that, Boone said, as per USA TODAY, “Everybody saw what happened.” Moreover, the manager believes it is one of those scenarios where he might also reach out to MLB regarding this matter. On Monday, in the end, the Yankees lost to the A’s 2-0.
