The New York Yankees are in desperate need of a divine intervention to save its playoff campaign as they succumbed to 5-15 record in the last 20 games. While the players are struggling to find consistency on the field, the front office perhaps can do the needful at the trade deadline.

The Yankees have multiple gaps on the roster that will be addressed at the August 1 trade deadline. Amid speculations, Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report, suggested Yanks as a strong and perfect fit for Detroit Tigers ace, Jack Flaherty. However, the question is, will the Yanks take the huge leap of faith for Jack?

The New York Yankees’ starting pitchers are struggling on the mound despite the addition of ace and defending CY Young pitcher Gerrit Cole. He has been off-colour since return from an elbow injury, whereas Luis Gil is finding it hard to stay consistent in his first full major league season. Moreover, Clarke Schmidt’s lat injury has further created a hole in the rotation that could be addressed if the front office traded Jack Flaherty from the Tigers, suggested Tim Kelly from Bleacher Report. Jack Flaherty, a right-handed pitcher, has a 5-5 record in 15 starts this year with a 3.24 ERA, 115 strikeouts, 14 walks and a 1.00 WHIP in 89 innings. He also has a 33.7% whiff rate, a 33% strikeout rate, and a 4% walk rate.

Jack Flaherty is known for his excellent command, diverse pitch arsenal, and competitive spirit. He predominately uses a three-pitch mix that includes a four-seam fastball, slider, and curveball. While longevity could be an issue, Jack is the perfect bargain for the New York Yankees if they are looking for a pitching solution at the trade deadline. Additionally, from a strategic standpoint, Flaherty fits well with the Yankees’ long-term plans. At 28, he is entering his prime and could be a cornerstone of the rotation for years to come. His competitive nature and leadership qualities align with the team’s culture of striving for excellence and championships. Overall, as the trade deadline approaches, this scenario will be one to watch closely, as it could significantly alter the dynamics of the Yanks season and their quest for a championship.

Yanks Rotation Drops New Low Amid Glaring Losing Stretch

The New York Yankees starting rotation had the best ERA in the first half of the season despite the absence of CY Young pitcher Gerrit Cole. However, in the past 20 games, things went downhill as Yanks ERA (6.96) is the last in the whole league. The starting pitchers also allowed 2.23 home runs per nine innings which is the highest rate in MLB.

Additionally, the rotation, who had a 35-13 record in first 72 games, have gone 3-13 in the following stretch. Needless to say, the New York Yankees have a deep issue to deal with apart from the hideous offense. The team collective needs to lift each other up and break free off the slump before its too late.
