After Game 3 loss, the New York Yankees are set to resume AL Championship Series against Cleveland Guardians on Friday for Game 4. This game could make or break the Yanks’ early lead advantage, and hence, the team will need its best players on the Progressive Field.

Meanwhile, New York Yankees are ready to deploy one of their biggest weapons i.e Luis Gil. After spending most of the 2024 season as one of the top right-handed starters in the majors, Gil will return to action in Game 4 of the ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians.

Right-hander Luis Gil’s 2024 season has been impressive, posting a 15-7 record with a 3.50 ERA. The 26-year-old hasn’t pitched since September 28, when he took the mound against the Pittsburgh Pirates. But the New York Yankees are confident he’s ready to rise to the occasion. Pitching coach Matt Blake believes Gil is mentally and physically prepared for his postseason debut. After throwing a 65-pitch simulated game on Sunday to stay sharp, Gil looks poised to deliver. However, there’s always uncertainty when a pitcher returns after a layoff, especially in the intensity of a playoff environment. Blake acknowledged the potential challenges but expressed faith in Gil’s mindset. Not only that, Gerrit Cole has also been checking in with Gil, offering guidance and allowing him space to find his own rhythm.

Coming back to the AL Championship Series, with the series tied 2-1 in favor of the Guardians, Gil’s start becomes even more critical as the New York Yankees look to level the series and avoid falling into a 3-1 deficit. Notably, Gil will face Cleveland’s Gavin Williams, whose 2024 season pales in comparison. Williams finished the year with a 3-10 record and a 4.86 ERA, giving the Yanks a significant advantage on the mound for Game 4. Meanwhile, skipper Aaron Boone highlighted the team’s pitching depth as a major differentiator in the postseason. With a healthy rotation that also includes Marcus Stroman, Boone feels confident in his staff’s ability to go deep into games and set up the bullpen for success. Hence, as the Yanks try to capture their first World Series title since 2009, they’ll rely on Gil to keep hopes alive.

‘L Is L’ Stanton Reacts To Game 3 Loss

Yankees Twitter

After a heartbreaking Game 3 loss where the Cleveland Guardians pulled off a dramatic comeback, Giancarlo Stanton and the New York Yankees face a quick turnaround in their bid to stay alive in the ALCS. With less than 24 hours to regroup, Stanton emphasized the importance of resetting mentally and focusing on the next game.

“A loss is a loss, whether it’s a clean one or we lost 3-1 or like this. This one obviously stings a bit more. Tomorrow is a new day. We got to get it done,” Stanton said. Notably, the Yankees were in control for much of Game 3, but Cleveland’s relentless resilience culminated in a walk-off win. The loss was a tough blow for New York, especially after holding the lead.
