Outlook

Sir Lewis Hamilton has been a Formula 1 champion since 2008. He made his debut in 2007 with McLaren. After 2008, he had to wait till 2014 to win his second world championship. From 2014 to 2021, the great Briton managed to win six F1 titles, adding to his maiden title back in 2008. He managed to equal the great German racer Michael Schumacher’s record of seven world championships. On top of that, the Mercedes racer surpassed the Ferrari legend’s record of 91 F1 race wins.

Currently, the Mercedes superstar is actively pursuing his dream of winning his eighth title with 105 race wins already in his bag. There are only a few dreams of Lewis Hamilton left for him to fulfill. Other than becoming the first F1 driver to win eight world championships, he has a dream to race on the African continent. Hamilton’s dream destination for an F1 race is South Africa. But for a long time, there has been no F1 race held in Africa. Perhaps Hamilton will be soon able to fulfill that dream, too.

On several occasions, Lewis Hamilton has expressed his desire to race in Africa before he finally hangs up his helmet and racing boots. Lately, some reports suggested that an African country can soon host an F1 race for the first time since 1993. As per motorsportmagazine, Christian Gakwaya, the president of Rwanda Automobil Club, mentioned that Rwanda is getting ready to bid for an F1 race. Moreover, it seems that it’s time for Africa to play host again to an F1 Grand Prix. Gakwaya said that it is time for Africa to be part of the F1 calendar again. The Automobil club president also noted that as a country, Rwanda is preparing to commit to hosting an F1 race. Moreover, Gakwaya added that they are following the Formula 1 framework while they work to get ready to host.

On top of that, the president mentioned that they are pretty serious about their bid. Lately, in an interview with Autosport, F1 CEO revealed that he will soon meet with the Rwanda Automobil Club. Stefano Domenicali said that all the officials will come together to discuss the plans. Also, Domenicali added a key point saying, “It will be on a permanent track.” The F1 CEO further noted that the Rwanda Automobil Club is serious and have presented a good plan. At the end of September, they will have a meeting. Rwanda officials were present at the Monaco GP this year to discuss with the FIA about the rules and regulations to host an F1 race.
