Lewis Hamilton will turn 40 next year in January, but he is still as hungry as any young sensation on the grid. The desire to get back to the top and win a championship is something that will never die down for the Briton as long as he is in the sport. But how long before Lewis finally thinks that enough is enough?

Well, that conversation won’t be happening for the next two years at least. Lewis Hamilton recently signed a two-year extension deal with Mercedes and made his intentions very clear. The British driver wants to take his team back to the top where they belong while securing his lost eight championship title simultaneously. But will that be the end point of his storied career?

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is reaching father time and is probably riding on the last stretch of his storied Formula One career. Interestingly, the 39-year-old is very much single despite wanting to have a big family. While the desire is still there, the Briton’s racing career steals away most of his time, due to which personal commitments have taken a backseat. He says that while he enjoys being an uncle for now, he has no time to start a family of his own. Moving on, the British driver spoke about his retirement plans with Blick. Hamilton says that when he quits, he won’t be coming back to the sport in any racing capacity.

“I can’t imagine standing in the paddock or in the garage – without then getting into a car,” said Hamilton. The Mercedes ace, however, refrained from keeping a timeline on his retirement. Earlier, talks were that Lewis would call it quits once he secures his eighth world championship title. However, the Briton refuted those claims. He does not believe that the record-breaking title would be a stop signal. But again, Lewis would only know where he stands once he gets to that milestone. Having said that, for now, Lewis Hamilton wants to focus on setting things straight for Mercedes in the next two years. They want to reclaim the lost dominance at any cost and thus will work rigorously to achieve that goal.

Every athlete faces their fair share of ups and downs throughout their career. Lewis Hamilton, for that matter, is no different. He faced multiple setbacks despite being the top driver in the business. Especially the 2021 Abu Dhabi loss shook the Briton’s core. Lewis confessed that during many low moments, he thought of quitting the sport.

However, his love for racing kept him going regardless of the unprecedented challenges. Hamilton says that once he sits in the car and drives through the track, all the worries and disappointment fade away. The day the joy and thrill are no longer there, Lewis Hamilton will hang up his helmet for sure. But that day is unlikely to arrive anytime soon.
