Sir Lewis Hamilton shocked the F1 world early this year, announcing his switch to Ferrari next season. It was hard for the fans to register completely that the seven-time champion could leave Mercedes. After everything the driver and the team have been through, fans thought that’s where the great Briton would end his career. He joined the German outfit in 2013 and completely changed their place in the grid. Prior to 2013, the Silver Arrows never really looked like a powerhouse. From 2010 to 2013, Red Bull used to dominate the grid with a four-time champion named Sebastian Vettel. But Lewis Hamilton was with McLaren from 2007 to 2012. He had won his maiden title in his sophomore season back in 2008.
Later, he took the tough decision to leave McLaren and join Mercedes in 2013, and then the rest is history. From 2014 to 2021, the German outfit never lost a constructor title. Moreover, the great British driver won six more titles in the turbo-hybrid era. Clearly, the Mercedes-Hamilton collaboration has been the greatest F1 team-driver combination ever. That’s why it will be weird to see Hamilton driving for the Prancing Horse starting next year. However, there has been a bad news for the Italian team, losing their chassis boss Enrico Cardile.
Ferrari Lost An Important Member Even Before The Big Arrival Of Lewis Hamilton
Recently, the Prancing Horse had to let Enrico Cardile, their chassis boss go to the team he wanted to. Cardile left Ferrari to join Aston Martin. Now, as per reports, the Italian outfit is trying to replace Cardile with the Red Bull design chief Adrian Newey. This year, Newey announced his departure from the Austrian outfit. He will leave the reigning champions next season, too. Now, will he join the Prancing Horse in 2025? That’s a question that the F1 fans have been wondering about as of late. Lately, in an interview with OE24, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko said he is not sure if Hamilton will regret his decision to move to the most successful F1 team in history.
Red Bull’s F1 consultant added that it will be an exciting transition. Moreover, Marko mentioned that Ferrari just lost one of their important parts of the team in Chassis boss Enrico Cardile. Now, Marko said that as the Scuderia has been trying to sign Newey, “Let’s see what happens with him.” The 81-year-old senior advisor added that Newey has offers from England and can decide where he goes. How costly would it be for Ferrari to lose Cardile before the 2025 season?
The Seven-Time Champion Might Regret Swapping Mercedes For The Prancing Horse
Helmut Marko said he isn’t sure if the seven-time champion will regret his decision to leave the Silver Arrows. But Hamilton’s teammate George Russell told Reuters that if Mercedes had been performing like they have in the last few races, then, “No way, Lewis would have left, for sure.” After Charles Leclerc won the 2024 Monaco GP, Ferrari has been looking a bit off with their progress. On the other hand, Mercedes has been on a six-race podium streak since they introduced their new flexi wing.
Very early this year, Lewis Hamilton wrote on his Instagram post that the decision to leave the German outfit after 12 years and six World Championships was one of the hardest things he ever had to make. However, he mentioned that he has been looking for a new challenge. After Hamilton’s announcement, Marko told sport.de that it is the best thing that could happen to the sport right now. Moreover, the Red Bull advisor added that Hamilton displayed his fascination with Ferrari as he lost faith in Mercedes.
