Aaron Judge, Babe Ruth

Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees captain, earlier dismissed comparisons with baseball legends, citing unfair analysis. He opined that he has a lot left to achieve in his career to even comprehend being remotely close to the legends, and all these talks are nothing but a mere medium of distraction for him.

However, as long as Aaron Judge continues to put up video game numbers on the board, the comparisons are bound to happen. He recently landed in an exclusive club that features the legend of Babe Ruth by scoring a massive home run against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

The New York Yankees have a personalized home run-hitting machine at their helm in the form of captain Aaron Judge. The former MVP is setting the bar higher with each passing game through his video game-esque numbers. During the series finale against the Colorado Rockies, Judge scored two home runs to unlock the 50-season home runs milestone. Batting an 0-2 against the Rockies lefty Austin Gomber, Judge slammed a 431-foot shot to left-center that gave the Yankees an early 2-1 lead. With that hit, Judge entered the exclusive club of Sammy Sosa, Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire, and Alex Rodriguez to become the only fifth major league to score at least 50 home runs in three seasons.

Aaron Judge previously scored over 50 home runs in 2017 and 2022. Notably, Judge’s historic night was just getting started as he went deep again in the seventh inning to score his 51st career home run. He is now on pace to finish with 63 home runs and surpass his 62-homer record set in 2022. Meanwhile, as the home fans seated at the Yankee Stadium continued to cheer, Judge accepted a curtain call before the Yankees secured a 10-3 victory. Needless to say, for Judge to be mentioned alongside Ruth is a reflection of his extraordinary impact on the game. Babe Ruth achieved the 50-home run mark four times during his illustrious career, a record that stood for decades and has only been matched by a few. Judge’s inclusion in this elite group not only highlights his talent but also places him among the greatest Yankees of all time.

Meanwhile, Juan Soto believes that if a player stands a chance to surpass Barry Bonds’ 73 home run unofficial record, its Aaron Judge. However, the Yankees captain would rather have a world championship. “This team’s got a big mission in front of them, and I think we’re all focused on that right now,” Judge said.

Interestingly, when asked if Aaron Judge has unlocked his full potential this season, the Yankees captain said a lot more is yet to come. “We’re still getting there,” he said. Nonetheless, Judge will end up in the history books of MLB once again this year and a world series ring could be the perfect fairytale finish the team is looking for.
