The New York Yankees need their captain, Aaron Judge, to stay healthy and play as many games as he can. They need him to lead the team to go deep in the playoffs. After what happened last year, the fans are still paranoid about any injury update they hear. This year, the NY side had a great start to the season. They even have the best record in baseball this year. Moreover, they were the first team this year to get to 50 wins. However, injuries have been a constant problem for this team during the spring training and even in the regular season. Very early in 2024, the Yankees lost Gerrit Cole and DJ LeMahieu to severe injuries.

Losing the ace pitcher and veteran infielder even before the regular season began could have been very costly. But the team handled it well, especially because of their offensive power. Most importantly, the Yankees Faithful would like to see the duo of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto help the team win their 28th World Series title. That is only if injuries don’t play a spoilsport. Lately, the 2022 AL MVP got drilled in hand. Fans are afraid that it will break his wrist again.

What’s The Verdict Of Aaron Judge After Oriole Hurler Hits Him Hard In His Hand?

JASON SZENES FOR THE NEW YORK POST

The New York Yankees tried to stay calm when their first baseman, Anthony Rizzo, broke his hand after a collision at Fenway Park last Sunday. It seems like history is about to repeat itself, as Rizzo had a collision last season that also ended his campaign. He could not continue playing in 2023 due to a post-concussion syndrome. But the fans hope he will return sooner and fitter this year. Then, on Tuesday, the Yankees added two more pitchers, Cody Poteet and Ian Hamilton, to the Injured List. Even after all this news, the fans didn’t allow this information to rattle them. But now Aaron Judge is going to be on the IL again. This news will naturally start a panic in the “Yankees Nation.” After all, the NY side’s captain has been playing so well and was a top contender for winning AL MVP again in 2024. He is leading the league in all sorts of offensive categories.

Lately, in a game against the division rivals, the Baltimore Orioles, Albert Suarez pitched a 94.1 mph fastball that drills Aaron Judge in hand. Later, he tried to stay in the game, running the bases and playing the field. But he was clearly in pain. Finally, Trent Grisham replaced Judge after one inning. Everybody was waiting for the scan results, and so was Judge. Later, he told the media, including NJ Advance Media, that he had no fracture in his left hand. The Yankees captain says, “It feels better after hearing some good news.” CT scans and X-rays came back negative. Hence, Judge said, “It’s a big relief as we’re in a pretty good spot.”

The Drilled In Hand Injury Brought Back 2018 Memories

Aaron Judge recalled what happened in 2018 when a similar incident broke his wrist. He said a few years ago, he got drilled and broke the wrist. That’s why this injury in the game against the Orioles scared everyone so much. The fans remember when Judge hurt his hand he was out for two months in 2018. He had a great debut MLB season in 2017 hitting 50 or more homers.

But then the injury-ridden season next year messed it up for him and the team. Nobody in the Bronx, especially Aaron Judge would want that to repeat this year when things have been going so well. Despite this injury scare of Judge, the Yankees managed to beat the O’s in Game 1 4-2 on Tuesday. Currently, the Bronx Bombers are 51-24.
